Ok I will be honest I have never had a true face shot. The most pow I have ever skied was probably ankle-knee deep. I am praying this will be the year that I will get a bunch of nice face shots, especially after seeing all the sick pics from Steamboat. So do you guys take the face shots like men or is it worth getting a Balaclava? Maybe it would be fun feeling the powder burn my throat and lungs. hahaha So what should I expect?

Time your breathing so you aren't trying to inhale when the snow's hitting you in the face. Barring that, I hear SCUBA gear works pretty well.

If you're new to face shots you need to experience the icy burn and frozen eyes firsthand. Wear a hat, but no goggles or neck protection.
After you've felt it you can decide whether or not to cover up. I find that catching snow in the face all day can get pretty cold. goggles+fullface helmet works well for me. A mask and snorkle work well too.::.:..::::.::.:.::..::.

Depends on the temperature. I wear a Seirus face mask when it is really cold and windy. If it's not that cold, then just zip up the coat and enjoy.

I don't wear a something over my face except for when the face shots freeze my face. I find that if it is under 15 or so and I am getting constant face shots, I need one.
Never had a problem breathing and I've skied 40"+ days.

oldie but a goodie, slightest crust and low angle but a faceshot nonetheless
timing your breathing, having to ski by memory and even throwin 'em sideways to breathe or see are all pretty great problems to have... one older 'troller says he tries to block the churning snow with his non poleplant hand but he's a little goofy...
