max just a suggestion, don't rely so much on your efforts here. Granted it will get you to the mtns occaisionally. Hell if you can make it to the RTD stop on 104th and 36, I'll give you a ride, but i am not riding this weekend. There must be a ton of people going to school at CU that could hook you up. Put some effort into hanging flyers in your dorm and at school, place a craigslist ad, especially with gas prices the way they are, if you are willing to split gas, you sure can find a ride to summit co. CU ski club has a ride board too. Not to mention you get discounted bus tickets if you're a member. Freshman year I managed 70+ days with no car by bumming rides to Summit and riding the bus.

The bus doens't run until december. And I tried my dorm. Everyone who is going up "doesn't have room." It's bullshit, I think, and pretty not cool because I don't have any beef with these kids, but whatever.

I can probably make it to golden. What time are you going up Z? Supposed to snow so earlier is better.

If not, I'll take the bus. Would prefer to go to where the goods are.

Fuck the ski bus. Kids are WAAAAY too worried about finals. Take some damn time to have fun!!! Don't freak out so much!

In other words, there is apparently no demand for the ski bus this weekend. And after not skiing yesterday because of shin bang, I would very much like to ski Imperial Bowl or something that is not windblown mank at Eldora.

Anybody going up to Summit/Clear Creek tomorrow? Would appreciate a ride most wholeheartedly (and compensatingly, although I know that is not a word).

    Max,

PM me as I go to the Basin at least 1 day per weekend. I'll be in Costa Rica for the first couple weeks of January, but before and after that if I'm not driving I have friends that wil that always have extra room. Hope you don't mind riding with snowboarders.

I'm of no help this season but if you go there next year too, I can help out. I'm pretty much positive that I am going there next year (95% sure). With a car.... and I enjoy driving. Not to change the subject, but overall (on days I'm not going to drive) is the bus system to the various resorts fairly strong? And is on-campus parking (you may not know this one) within a reasonable distance to dorms, etc? I could really just go out there and see the freaking school already and answer these questions for myself, but I've been itching for answers to those two questions...

The bus sucks. The tour guides advocate it strongly but the ski bus runs for ONE weekend in December. Read: TWO FUCKING DAYS the entire first semester. But once you get to wherever, you can take the summit stage to whatever resort you want, as long as you are back to where they dropped you off by 4 pm sharp (they will leave your ass there if you are not on the bus at 4, from what I understand).

GET AN ELDORA PASS. There is a FREE bus that runs multiple times per day, and you can ski MANY half days there. Gotta bike down to the station, which is kinda a pain in the ass with gear on your back, but it's good exercise coming back up the hill.

On-campus parking? Where I live (Sewall) there is a very VERY small lot with meter parking directly in front of the dorm. Most of the kids have to park like 1/4 mile down the hill (maybe a little more). There is also a big lot directly in front of my dorm, on the other side, but I think that may be reserved for rec center staff, faculty, etc.

Parking is not stellar here, but there are definitely worse places for it.

All in all, CU is ok. I've been kinda disappointed with my entire experience (save the academic one) because I haven't met many real skiers, and I'm kinda getting tired of all the ignorance here (the HEY LET'S GET FUCKING STONED AND DRUNK 24/7 TEEHEE TEEHEE and the inability to have much intellectual conversation... but then again that may be any freshman dorm at a big public school).

I'm still pretty sure I made the right choice for a school. I was looking for A) a school with good academics (which CU has) B) somewhere I could ski A LOT (which CU has in the second semester... both semesters if you have a car) and C) a school with LOTS of hot girls (which CU has). The rest is trivial.

If you like to party and don't really care about getting a 3.8 or 3.9, you'll like the school more than I do...

Time to go write a paper.

Eveyone hates on will vill, BUT when i lived there we A) had free parking. B) would not see out RA for literally 4-6 weeks at a time, therefor C) could really do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted. D)when its really shitty weather we can take the Buff Buf from dorm to class and it runs ALL day and almost all night.....whereas kids in kittridge and stuff are "on campus" and have to walk like a mile uphill to the north and west side of campus...

Max, you also may want to try the green bus route(that's what is was last year) on the Keystone shuttle bus system. They run every 20 minutes to A-Basin from Keystone during most of the winter. Might be less of a hassle than Summit Stage.

Buses just suck anyway if you're trying to get somewhere fast and early enough to ski.

All that partying is the standard freshman dorm action, Max. You'll meet plenty of like-minded people as time goes by. The academics are all what you make of them.

In the meantime I'm definitely heading up the Eldora for afternoons and up to Summit County and Vail regular weekends/weekdays after the holidays. Stay in touch and I'll give you a ride when it works out. 'course you'll have to tee up those big drops by yourself. I'm old; I'll ski around 'em.

    Sounds like a plan, Quarterman...

Ha. Not sure what time my chem final is over tomorrow, but I might be able to make some turns at Eldora if I get out early enough (it's gonna be hard, so I doubt it). Shoot me a PM with your number and I'll give you a call if I make it up.

RE: the bus, that system is really nice, but I don't think they have as many shuttles anymore. There is no bus to vail anymore (not even one you can pay for) and I beleeeeeeb the only one going to A-Basin is the summit stage (which runs only once an hour). But freaking calling a charter bus to come pick you up for freeee? That's just sweet right there.

Mike. Bear Creek. What do you think for an apartment option next year? Could I get a work bench in there (that's one of my requirements for a place to live next year)? Know anything about it?

I lived up on Sugarloaf road this summer and it was quiet nice. And it was really cheap. If I went to school there, I would definately live up there again. If the weather got real bad crash at a friends place down in town for a night. Otherwise you got Nederland right up the road, rock climbing in Dream Canyon, and mountain biking on the Narrow Gauge Trail. Plus you get to see the lights of Boulder every night.

And stop your bitching for christsake, you left a hurricane destroyed state for a state that has a lot of snow and some big mountains. Isnt that enough for you?

know a dude up there, Brian who does art for YMSB, anyway what kinda rent do you pay up there?....im talking cheapest of the cheap. I really like it up that way and gettin sick of the boulder party scene and shit, just not very conducive to school.
