    Question Another Aspen Info-needed thread...

Got a wedding in Aspen over friggin' President's wknd..(THANKS DICK!). I'm checking a few lodging options on-line...good Lord this is going to cost a fortune. Found the St. Moritz, decent prices respectively....this place a dump?

Any other options I should consider?

    Thanks.

Wow, that hurts, stay in Carbondale or something, it will be uber cheaper. I feel extrememly sorry for you that you must be there on that weekend. Good luck.

    Lamplighter, St Moritz, Gant

St Moritz is, by Aspen standards, a "dump." That's why it's cheap.

What's your big issue with Aspen over Pres Day weekend? I would think it'll be a lot of fun.

Maybe a little bit, but it probably can't be too bad. Did you check out the virtual tour? Looks pretty nice, but I haven't been inside it for like twenty years. None of these Gems are too bad and a couple of them are pretty dam nice. Hearthstone House, Lenado and the Boomerange all have good reputations.

At least "Dicks" getting married in a nice place and you can ski. It will be a lot less crowded than most places. You could be spending your money going to Fargo.

Guess I'm used to the cali resorts...where presidents wknd is the WORST wknd of the season by far with regards to crowds & prices......but I suppose it could be worse, much worse.

I stayed in the st moritz when I first got to Aspen as a ski bum. Its a hostel pretty much. Its not a dump or anything. I'm sure the private rooms are allright. If it's just you or if your wife/gf isnt too picky you'll be fine. You'll be skiing and partying the whole time anyway. Save your money for the $72 lift tickets.

See if the Aspen Mountain Lodge has a room. I booked it for someone in January at $150/night

Theres also a hostel in both aspen and glenwood.

Don't know the name or number, but thats something to look into if you're really on a budget.

Stayed at the St. Moritz once. If I remember correctly, it was not bad at all. The wife and I had a private room with shared bathrooms. The bathrooms were clean. There's a nice and hot outdoor pool and the location is excellent. That weekend my wife saw Antonio Banderas in Aspen. She still talks about it.

Also try the Tyrolian Lodge. It is not that bad, and close to downtown.
