Delayed Bags on Southwest, time to go shopping

Has anyone had experience with SW and reimbursement lately? The guy at the airport said to keep receipts and they’ll either issue a check or give double the amount in credit for SW. I’m not planning to go insane but it’s Telluride and nothing is cheap here.

If you booked on a travel CC, check with them as well they might have even better hookup.

If an airline lost my stuff Id want to get paid, not offered double credit. I guess it's all in the fine print. I was heading to a drilling project in Wilton, ND a few years ago and Delta accidentally sent all of my shit to Mexico City. They were pretty good about reimbursing me for everything that I had to replace. And they did it in a timely manner. +1 for Delta. I was flying from Newark, NJ to Minneapolis, then on to Bismark. Hard to tell who fucked up.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't push the bounds of what is "reasonable".

US laws are pretty clear on this (international less so). They can't set a limit on your spending (below the legal limit which is in the thousands) and they have to cover reasonable incidental expenses.

You're on a ski trip. You need gloves (probably Hestra gloves!). You need appropriate layers for the weather (like a Patagonia R1). Obviously you need demo skis (buying new skis is taking it too far, but go demo some nice stuff).

Can you get a full new Norrona goretex pro kit? That might be pushing your luck, especially if there are local vendors that can rent you snow pants...but some clearance/lower price options probably exist at this point in the season. They aren't going to bat an eye at a few hundred bucks in expenses.

Just make sure you keep your receipts, file your claim on their website ASAP. You might want to start that claim now before you've even spent anything. If you run into any trouble with reimbursements, start reaching out to the credit card you booked the trip with (or any other potential source of travel insurance).

Unfortunately they didn’t open until ten this morning. We went to town at Alpineer, but tried to keep things within reason. It was kind of slim pickings especially for a kid, but we got what we needed to get on the slopes and had a great day. I’ll update once I see how things end up on the other end with reimbursement.

A friend of mine was in town for work and his bags got delayed. He had planned a ski day on day one to recover from jet-lag before jumping into meetings. He ubered over to REI and bought a full Norrona kit and everything else he needed except boots and skis. I can&#39;t remember if the airline or the credit card travel insurance paid for it but either way it worked out for him.&nbsp;</p>

Update: it took a while, but we were fully reimbursed by SW for all of our expenses, about $1600 for two of us. We could have done more damage, but I did not want to totally exploit the situation. I think the delay was mainly because we originally turned in our receipts to the staff in Montrose and they did not submit it initially. All is good in the end.
