Gates belt drive package

Ended up converting Mrs mntlions single speed to a gravel bike, so removed the belt drive stuff.

15? year old gates system. "center track" and "carbon drive CDX" are the marketing buzz words.

Belt, 46T front ring (104 BCD, 4 bolt) and both 26T & 28T rear, and bunch of cassette spacers/lock ring. Maybe 1000miles on the system over the years?

$150 US for the package with shipping from banff, alberta.

I love that Gates has a prize purse for the first DH World Cup win using their belt drive:

The Gates Carbon Drive 100K Belted Purse is a €100,000 prize for the first elite mountain biker to win a UCI Downhill World Cup race using a Gates belt-driven bike. The prize is intended to encourage racers to try belt drive systems, which are designed to be more durable and require less maintenance than traditional chains.

I think it is interesting to see so much hype behind the prize. Does the rider get it all? Does the brand get it all? It it really that much money for a brand or rider who is at the very top? And would those at the top ever consider compromising half a percent of performance for a hundred K?

Who is the incentive targeted toward?

However many are in a shit ton.

Junior the engineer has run a gates belt for 5 yrs/ 5000 kms on his cannondale commuter, no issues/ no lube/ no hassle/ no chain lube o his dockers or WTF them enineers wear

I think a belt drive will be good for an E-bike with a gearbox when that comes along
