How about Schilling? His numbers compare pretty favorably with CC

Lofton should be in, agreed. Criminally underrated.

Schilling isn't because he pissed off all the writers. Not because he didn't deserve it on the field.

Borderline. But you’re right. He’s an asshole.

But, if I had a vote, he’d get it. 3x 20 wins, >3000k, nails in the post season.

I never asked about this one. Is one Lofton and the other Griffey?

This is my biggest complaint about the HoF: A bunch of thin-skinned "keepers of the game" gatekeeping guys who actually accomplished HoF-worthy shit on the field out for as long as they have a ballot.

I like when the Jays make moves.

I just don't like it when we send our 2x Platinum Glove 2B to them. Oh well, another guy to like on that team I guess.

Can't wait to watch Gimenez play. I didn't know much about him when we got him but he sounds like a great addition.

If anyone is jonesing for some baseball the Caribbean Series just started. On MLB or streams are easy to find.

Never thought I would see a Steinbrenner throw in the towel before the season even starts....

" we cant spend like the Dodgers" despite having the highest revenue in baseball but " The payroll-to-revenue ratio reveals a gap. The Yankees sat at 52 percent in 2023, after the Dodgers, 67 percent and Phillies at 62 percent." why wont Hal spend the money? he needs an excuse as to why they cant finish.

They are and will remain NY's second team for years to come

I bet you get state legislatures being the force of change in baseball because baseball sure as shit isn't going to do it themselves (players or owners).

In the era of half-billion dollar contracts (and really even smaller ones), how long will politicians accept not getting their pound of flesh (tax revenue) on the whole deal and instead settling for a pittance thanks to deferred salaries?

Pete Alonso back to the Mets for what is basically 1yr, $30M.

In the summer of 2023, Pete reportedly turned down a 7/$158M offer and then hired Scott Boras. Whoops!

The last thing we need is government bureaucrats getting involved in baseball. And why would Baseball need to step in and fix something that doesn’t need fixing? I’ve never really understood all of the pearl clutching over deferred salaries. The NPV of the contract is used for salary tax purposes, the funds have to be in escrow within 2 years of earning, the owners and the union like them, and they don’t hurt the product on the field. What’s the issue?

And before anyone should crown the Mets as the kings of NY, they should take a long hard look at the history of the New York Mets. It’s going to take a lot more than one good off-season.

I really hate that you’ve put me into a position where I’m defending the Yankees, but by what metric have they been a better franchise? The Yankees were in the WS last year.

It’s the same bullshit from the guy who was harping about Judge being over rated.

Pitchers and catchers started reporting yesterday.

In broadcast news, since the Bally Sports clusterfuck of 15 or so franchises' tv deals MLB has taken over production of a few team's broadcasts, the Guardos being one of them. In connection with that, MLB has removed local blackout restrictions as well. No big deal for those who are out of market like myself, but I hope that's a trend that catches on in every city. Stop trying to restrict how fans take in your product if you're worried about declining interest in the sport.

$99 a season is a price that you can’t complain about either.

Very true. It's $30 cheaper than the regular single team out of market package from MLB.tv and no local blackouts if you're in the market. That's a no brainer. One thing I like about the regular MLB.tv single game package that I normally get is that I also get all the other MLB radio broadcasts as well on the app. I wonder if that will be the case with this new Guardos-specific offering since it's through MLB after all.

In other I am so glad baseball is back news, it's time for Aaron Boone to start saying silly shit again and today was a strong one: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/...yankees-win-ws
