Two dead in separate solo avalanches in Utah.

We are deeply saddened to confirm two avalanche fatalities. The first involved a 38 year old man in Main Porter Fork of Mill Creek Canyon who went missing on Saturday. The second avalanche fatality occurred yesterday that involved a 54 year old man off Davenport Hill into Silver Fork of BCC. Both individuals were traveling alone in the backcountry. Our condolences go out to to the family and friends of the victims

That was after they did extensive control work before the recovery but still. Jeez. That's a hell of an effort for that recovery.

I want to shout out to the "good samaritan" who was up top in Porter and found and uncovered the victim up there. They hung it out there and took action for a grim recovery. Hope they're doing alright. That'll stay with a person.

    Condolences for all involved.

40 years ago, Archie didn't show up for work.
We went and found his hand just above the surface, his head incased in a block of ice.

Fack. RIP. I had to search who he was as while I remembered his handle I didn't remember many of his posts. His last 2 posts were here - you can see the run where he died in one of his pics. Brutal.

Pretty big terrain trap / chute feature that concentrated all the debris into a narrow path. This photo is from before the control work for the rescue began. Click image for larger version.

Yeah watching the video from the heli it doesn't look like much else if anything came directly out of that path, just the whole rest of the basin west. Jeez. Shitty deal.
