    the Transition

there may another thread covering this subject? , but it seems like a cool subject to ponder.
So, I was skiing some mediocre slopes yesterday, guiding my friend around snowbird. Fresh Pow! and some mind enhancements got me charging turns pretty hard for the low snowpack. It hit me that I finally have progressed my skill to be able to pretty much ski fluidly anything within reason that my desire and skill allows.
it made me think about the transition we all experienced to get to that off trail skier we want to be I know the guys n gals here that grew up skiing have quite a different experience than us who learned as adults.
Skiers and Boarders who learned as adults have a much bigger risk reward balance.
My transition seems like it was about 12 years after I finally learned how to lean properly on my shins...it took than long to learn how to do it in most situations I find myself in at our super sick resorts we love here
I am sure we all have great, fun stories about our experiences along the way!

Quick question: What do you mean by "lean properly on my shins"?

1st post ? lmao um I mean Welcome!, your weight need to be on the front of your lower legs specifically the boot tongue.

Alrighty i'll get er goin' My 1st real off trail experience came at killington.. there was a foot + of fresh pow and the groomers only lasted the 1st, 1/2 an hour. I got eaten alive at 1st,

I went and tried some old straight skis at 1st > like 50mm wide...total newb move. My regular skis then were 193 k2 evil knevel's and those are skinny as heck too, but at least those were aggressive enough to plow through that east coast wet pow.

realized I needed wider skis for days like that..and the quest for PoW turns slowly began!

I guess for me it was when I realized if work keeps you from skiing you’re doing it wrong
