I have not, or the American version The Day After. According to Jacobsen The Day After had a profound effect on Reagan.

Looks like an interesting book. Looking at the wikipedia entry for it's sequel, Parable of the Talents, it has this gem:
The novel is set against the backdrop of a dystopian United States that has come under the grip of a Christian fundamentalist denomination called "Christian America" led by President Andrew Steele Jarret. Seeking to restore American power and prestige, and using the slogan "Make America Great Again", Jarret embarks on a crusade to cleanse America of non-Christian faiths. Slavery has resurfaced with advanced "shock collars" being used to control slaves. Virtual reality headsets known as "Dreamasks" are also popular since they enable wearers to escape their harsh reality.

Eerily prescient dystopian nightmares have been creeping into the collective subconscious and popping up in books and films for a long time now. It almost seems ... inevitable.

Quick search doesn't show this on the usual streaming platforms, but it is available here...

Haven't seen it since it first came out.

    Butler was onto something!!!

For me, parable of the sower felt a little too close, felt a little too real, and resulted in increased insomnia.

    Hmm.

Added to reading list - thx!
I actually just finished reading Parable of the Sower, concurrent with watching the horrendous wildfire situation in SoCal unfold. The pyro stuff - too close, indeed. Heard people have been going around setting fires down there intentionally. JFC!

Oh, and woke up this morning to a house-rattling earthquake!

    Scary times.
