Lake Louise has lots of snow making, so go there on day 1 and if it is decent, then stay there. Disclaimer: Banff resorts are in the Rockies and they call them the Rockies for a reason.

Looks to be windy as F the next two days. I'd suggest checking the weather and avoiding SSV if its blowing hard as its no fun in low vis. On the other hand they might get more fresh overnight than LL and the winds could moderate as the arctic air moves in and it could clear up. Backside of Louise has more chalky packed pow then SSV. Start poking around off boomerang. Basically not prime conditions at either place and a good day means searching out the better snow and just enjoying a fine day.

Skied SSV today. What a delight to see some fresh! Just enough snow to cover up all the rocks…skied ok- but hit rocks constantly now that u can’t see them…

Skied LL yesterday following that little bit of fresh. The winds had done a number and it was super variable all over the hill, and often turn to turn. Some areas were completely scraped, lots of pockets of fairly stiff and grabby windslab, and a few pockets of good, soft pow turns. Made for some challenging but fun skiing in the fairly flat light.

A couple shots from some consistently soft turns we found last week:

Planning a late April trip to Banff, are conditions generally pretty good that time of year?

Generally yes.. I'm still hopeful that the taps will turn on in February and March. That's the usual case with la Nina years. Dry January and then a later spring. Let me know if you come up.

Will do! I’d be super grateful to link up with a mag who knows where they are going. I’d like to ski delirium dive/wildwest or cool steep stuff at Lake Louise and those going with me have absolutely zero desire to ski stuff like that.

Let me know closer to the time. I'll probably be around and skiing those areas anyway.

Next FWT stop is at KH, anyone planning on stopping by to watch the show?
I never got a chance to watch any of the FWT comps, but I used to watch Wrangle when they were still running that. Ran into Candide while waiting for them to pre-run the course one year. That was unexpected.

Family Day weekend in Jasper. I still can't believe how some things burned and others did not. Still a great place for food and skiing.
Not busy. Still very thin but good weekend overall.

This should probably go somewhere else but Christina Lustenburger climbed and skied the south face of Robson. First ever decent of that side

I was going to start a seperate thread for this. Incredible accomplishment. The photo of the line they descended on the South Face is ludicrous.

It sounds like Sherpas had some crew out filming for the Lusti Robson descent? I hope so, so incredibly amazing would love to see more about it.
