Great sleeper Tuesday. 8" of high quality. No lines, bluebird, very little to complain about.

Great storm day skiing at Mission yesterday, intense graupel and snow in waves all day, windy. Wind buff everywhere, couldn’t find a bad turn
Is the image function working?

Well, my kids school district sure picked a hell of a good week for us to spend on Highway 12 starting on Sunday (we are driving up tomorrow)!!!! [emoji1750]

Crystal was fun today . Didn’t quite play out as well as I’d hoped and still too many people with work flexibility. Odd day but fun . Pretty warm and storm didn’t come in until about [emoji637][emoji637]:[emoji639][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]. Actually felt like things skied better after getting skied . Snow was a little heavy . Viz got bad once the storm rolled in

Did my first trip down to Crystal. Thought I would explore a little, but what the map called The Doors stayed empty all morning so I just lapped that for a few hours. Pretty great day for April.

Since this place and TAY are basically dead, what Facebook groups are worth joining to get info on spring touring conditions, road openings, etc? Is the TAY group on facebook active?
Facebook groups are a sorry substitute for the heyday of the forums, but they do seem to be where all the beta is these days (in an atrociously unsearchable and unstructured way). Some useful groups
Backcountry Touring in the Pacific Northwest (very active, wide spectrum of participant expertise)
Washington's Alpine Climbing and Ski Mountaineering group (less active than BTitPN, useful TRs, sometimes useful comment threads)
Pacific Northwest Mountaineers (less active, not many newbs)
TAY - Turns All Year (medium activity, good humor, useful TRs)
PNW Peak Baggers (more a summer hiking group, pretty active, has a sense of humor)
Washington Hikers and Climbers (giant group, lots of TRs, totally humorless, tons of beginners, comment threads are a cesspool, posts are sometimes useful)
I tried 3 times to mention the backcountry tourers fb page.
Success!?!??

A certain large Washington-based manufacturer out product testing their directional neuron-curving line for 2027 at the crusty resort. Tire weights to dial weight and balance? Giving me bad ideas.

Huh. I wonder what brand that is?

A lot of good skiing lately. Maybe the forum will resurrect itself in time for me to post a pic!
Did the North Cascade Birthday Tour recently. Would love to post some pics.
RIP to the 3 dead climbers on the spire.

Lots of pictures as well- Iron Peak, Castle/Pinnacle/Foss peaks. Youll have to use your imagination.I am certainly no climber, but is it SOP to have 4 people all roped into a single piton/anchor? I would have thought that, similar to skiing an avalanche slope, you have one person go at a time while the others wait in a safe zone with its own protection, off-belay? Latest articles say they might have been racing off the mountain to avoid incoming weather, so maybe that factored in. Fucking gnarly survivor story for the person who survived the fall with major injuries, dragged themselves out of there, drove to a payphone and called 911.
Hopefully the survivor will be able to provide details.
