Well you can if there's enough snow, but I'd imagine it's a bit iffy at the moment. Snowguns have been blasting away to get the ski-outs in place, though.

The Mrs. surprised me with a Whistler weekend for my birfday, but she refuses to ski as she is 8 months pregnant. Excuses...

Anywho, anyone willing to let me join in their reindeer games in the alpine tomorrow or Sun, get at me. Have gear/bag/training and a not intolerable disposition, generally cruise uphill at about 400-500M/hr.

Ski outs are looking better. Tons of snow making to village. The guns are going 100%

    Powder Panic

Huh, December came early this year. Superb start, I think it was Nov 2017 that was similar.
Now comes the highway carnage on wkds, in the dark. Traffic delays of 6+ hrs.

November 2017 was pretty good. However, November 2009 was all time, 560cm in the month of November

I remember that November, didn't Whistler open like first/second week of the month?

Looks like Friday for Seventh and Peak:

Who’s ready for another ??????terrain update ?????? ?! Our teams have been working hard to prepare the alpine for safe openings and we’re excited to share that 7th Heaven on Blackcomb and Peak Chair on Whistler are on tap to crack next! We’re targeting later this week, Friday, but only if conditions permit us to safely do so. We will provide updates whenever we can, so stay close to our channels. Once these iconic zones open, we’ll be at 5,500 skiable acres across both mountains!

Here is your Blackcomb Glacuer and Ice Cave report.

Even with a decent start to the season there's a character -building bootpack into the Glacier, with some steps approx 80 to 120 cms down. There is a rappel ring with carabiner. There is also a sideslip possible with skis but I'll leave a plug for Profile Ski and Board Tuning here if you try that.

Probed between 260 to above my 320cms probe of snow depth on the top of the Glacier between crevasses which seems fair.

Snow quality is of the "mature" variety; unsurprising since it's been a week since significant new snow.

Ice cave is noticeably smaller. Still TikTok friendly I guess.

Groomers put In a nice exit track. Thanks WBOps! Speaking of groomers they are running fast and utterly deserted

I just looked through last season's thread and it wasn't till March 23rd that the Showcase t-bar opened. Hoping for a substantially earlier opening this season.

Peak cracked a day early...then promptly shut down after less than three hours. Hope whatever the problem is isn't too serious.

Mrs. and Jr. headed out of town for a couple of days....come on Ullr! Quite the precip spread on forecast models for this system.

A landslide has 99 blocked in both directions at Lions Bay. Looks like it happened around 11 am, so nearly everyone driving to Whistler was already north of there and won't be getting back home anytime soon. Latest news I saw said the road isn't expected to reopen till at least midnight. Whistler and Squamish are both going to be filled to capacity tonight!

Hopefully they can get the southbound lanes to Van open first, more trees & branches on that side of the concrete barrier, less soil & rock. Northbound will take some work.
