I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I'll just add, it's unlikely Randy and company in Washington are reading their emails.
Consider also emailing your local forest supervisor and district ranger. When funding for limited positions comes available for their forest, they will have to choose between filling avalanche, rec, range, forestry (everything besides fire). Express your concern to them directly at the local level to hire meteorological technicians.

If you can, give a donation to your local center's non profit group as well. This season, much of the costs usually covered by the FS will have to be covered by the non profit side.
