We like the Tavern, despite its changes, but I like using a CC. I don’t think it’s that expensive for the RFV. Really it’s the same price as Home Team and is cheaper than most anywhere in Aspen proper that has sit-down, table service, while having better food.

Other “reasonably” priced: Taco Pina is good, the bar menu at Steakhouse 316 is good, Boat Tow was decent, Limelight pizzas, Meat and Cheese. Shit, the $16 shells and cheddar with lump crab at Clark’s is one of the better deals for a solid dish.

For a nicer dinner, can’t go wrong with Campo, Sway, Wild Fig; haven’t tried Wayan, but it sounds good.

I'm still in the second honeymoon phase. I lived here for the 80's and left, but dreamed of moving back everyday. Now that I'm back, I don't ever want to leave.

I'll be the only car at Campground, schralping untracked Powderoy all morning. Back to Ajax for the really cold days.

Love sitting outside at the Tavern in the summertime. We still eat there 5-6 times a year as it’s the closest dining establishment to us. Also think their black bean veggie burger may be the best I’ve ever had despite it not staying together very well and being kinda a mess.

I also like being able to use a CC now.

This is yet another example of leadership making decisions from what they see on NineNews. The Eight AM temps tomorrow are about Seven degrees colder than the Eight AM low last week (Tues or Wed?)

We are having a Two hr delay here in private school land…

Great daddy daughter trip so far, here is recap as of now:

One way drive from eagle to Aspen. No weather so flew. Stopped in Basalt for basic supplies and snacks. Anabelle let us check in at 1:45. Place is great, highly recommend. Walk to town easy, bus stops here. Got to buttermilk for few runs then to hometeam for early dinner and game. Altitude was getting me so easy night of resting.
Sunday morning-good bfast at Anabelle. Car back to airport bus back. Two of us took bus to Highlands for all morning then shuttle to buttermilk for a few more. Shopping at Mad happy, aviator, etc.. Went to white House but wait was long, got into ajax tavern with shorter wait. Had the burger, was fantastic.
Today bus to snowmass-rode all around mtn, lunch at Sams, had the Bolognese and the lemon chicken. Hot tub at hotel, then kemo sabe. Thanks Shred head, now I have a cow girl. I (she) got out of there with a killer vintage (1970 bronze belt buckle). they gave you booze while you wait, as most are speding a grand on a hat. Early dinner at Matsuhisa, then treats at paradise bakery. Tomorrow plan is Bfast here, Ajax from 9-1130 then home. Thanks for advice. Great mtns and will be back to actually hit all the goods. With guys I wouldn't do one thing i did on this trip except maybe hometeam. I'm a dirt bag at heart but this was for her. only thing I would really ponder in future for guys trip would be staying up in basalt and having the pia drive down each day or even condo at snowmass.

I'm so fed up with ASD right now, been real fun lately being a household with two working parents. They scheduled a 4-day weekend for MLK less than two weeks after coming back from winter break, then made it a 5-day weekend with this BS "extreme cold" closure today. Early release tomorrow too... sweet.

Great summary. I run two different trips as well--the DB ski-focused trip, and the family-oriented trip with more comfort and town attractions.

Gonna run for a spot on the school board? Because this is how you end up on the school board.

    Please email them.

On another note, our 2nd grader has had 7 different teachers this year.

1st one left due to family illness
2nd one was a terrible sub
3rd one was your normal sub
4th one is a great teacher but she’s there 2 hours each morning
5th one is an afternoon sub with minimal teaching experience
6th and 7th teachers are math and reading specialists who have been pulled to help out.

5 day MLK weekend literally on the heels on winter break. Are these local kids ever in school?

No but we ARE an IB school.

Not to mention 1.5 weeks off at the end of Oct. And a week off at Thanksgiving.

Since Oct 24, our kids have been off 27 days and have been in school 39 days.

When the infinite wisdom of the school board decides that "extreme cold" is the reason for cancelling school, they have the insight to realize that these same kids they are trying to protect (from a warm classroom) are now going to be out skiing in the "EXTEME COLD" at 11k feet?

It was soo cold that the roads had great grip this AM, so no transportation issues in the RFV today.

For sure. Our kids were out skiing today.

AVSC immediately sent out an email that Nordic was NOT going to be cancelled this evening.

Kids in Gunnison wouldn't have had school since Thanksgiving if that's the threshold.

Our school district was also off today due to cold temps. It’s rare here in MN, but we hit the school boards -35 degree threshold. (windchill)

Also do a dirtbag trip and a fam trip.

This year I'm couch surfing outside of Glenwood Spgs with a friend who's an instructor in Aspen and cashing in on some Mountain Collective days there then hitting A-basin on the way back to Denver for the guys trip. Last year was Kirkwood with a few buddies.

Fam trip over Mardi Gras is out to Big $ky and is way more painful on the checkbook, been trying to get a little side hustle money to cover the $ki lessons that are crazy pricy. Thinking next year I need to go to a smaller hill maybe somewhere in Idaho (Silver Mountain has a 5 lesson package with lift tickets, rentals, and water park access for the same price as a single lesson sans rentals and lift tickets at Big Sky...) or somewhere else off the beaten path. At least we get to cash in on Mountain Collective tix and aren't paying full price for those, don't think we could afford it if that wasn't the case...

I'll be in town 1/29 - 1/31, hope to get to ski some of ya while I'm out there!

Yeah man, nice work! Sounds like it all came together for your trip and hopefully your daughter enjoyed it. It’s a pretty cool place we have here

Good job Crippity! You did the town right and didn't let the cold affect your trip.

Skiing the Gondi early today and then flying to the Bahamas for two weeks!
I hope it dumps on you guys!

What is the deal with X Games tickets? I thought they were having trouble getting people to show up and then there was one blurb from SkiCo about discounted tickets and I don’t remember other emails about them being for sale.

Now my [emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]]] year old is disappointed. Buying tickets to any concert or event has been completely ruined by stub hub. Scalpers grab every ticket and then mark them up [emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]x to see if people will bite.
