As someone who lives just west of Sacramento and is not a Tahoe resident, I’m genuinely curious: if the local community was against it, why did they elect Gustafson?
My .02$. There are advantages to having someone from the Tahoe basin who understands how things work and get done here on the board of supervisors. Tahoe is weird and complicated from a project implementation standpoint. Cindy is by no means perfect but generally does a good job of representing issues relevant to eastern placer county at the county level. This palisades vote being the biggest exception. Wayne would have been more likely to vote no, if he was I elected and in office for this vote, but didn’t seem to have the same level of knowledge how for getting useful things done.
Damn

Also don’t forget the role that money plays in politics. It’s not as effective as politicians think (Kamala spending $1.5 billion in 100 days being the most recent example) but the special interests continue to push the narrative that you need a ton money so that they can maximize the worth of their campaign contributions. Pollsters and political consultants (which anyone can become because you don’t need a certification or any qualifications) also push the money narrative because those campaign contributions go to them.
Same here. I think I’m right above you (Rose Rock Ln).
I was stoked when the power cane back earlier than forecasted.
I stayed (did’t evacuate) during the Davis Fire and the power was
out for seven days. But back in early Sept the temps were mild and the days were much longer. No power was more of an inconvenience than anything else. Cold at night with short days combined with only electric heat would have sucked last night.

I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
TGR is aging like a loaf of bread. It's going to snow, nobody's talking about it, where the snows filled in enough to ski this weekend, etc.
Local politics aside, it's going to snow...
I will talk about snow. The GEFS has 60 inches along the crest by next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. That would be a very solid start to the season.
The politicians are counting on people paying attention to the weather and anything else besides politics. That's how they get away with shit and then people wake up one morning having been screwed over and wondering WTF happened.
Besides, skiing is fun at worst, transcendental at best, but boring to talk about.
We all know, we’re just waiting. What do you want exactly?
Swirlo Golf Apparel
It's also blowing gusts to about 70mph at 7k right now. Trust me, we want to ski. I'm going to try today, but I'm guessing conditions will not be luxurious.
It's like Fight Club, you just don't talk about it. Let's put a pin in that and talk a week from now.
FWIW, all of the family's skis got fresh wax yesterday. LFG!!
It was blustery AF in T/D this morning (3am -7:45am)
Made me wonder what it was like up on the Donner Summit for both SB and Boreal openers…
Oly Valley opened today…
Again, curious about the wind factor.
Raining at Casa Dookey.
I haven’t looked at SRB based on the fact that all the snow in my yard (approx 6300) has washed or melted away over the past few days…
That, and, well, I am lazy, too.
I also made the mistake one year of skinning SRB too early in the season and handlebarred just-barely-snow-covered manzanita the whole run…
Seeing as I didn’t buy any passes this year, SRB is gonna be my non-work “resort.”
Ok, we can swap notes. Yeah I’m at 6400 and most got washed out but I do like to see what’s there before a real storm wave comes in to have a sense of the tide.
Cool, but let's see, 20k car trips, 30 skiers at a time? Damn pesky math!
More likely water taxi for the well-heeled. All aboard for the West Shore Express!
The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there.
That should alleviate the traffic congestion to Homewood.

How does ‘expected to help traffic congestion’ get into a newscast?
GTFO!
Alpine at 2:00 wasn’t too windy. Bigger concern was the stop and go snow at that point
