^ Northwoods... fun times, or not, when it's snowing or compacted snow.

And yet its enough snow to shutdown I80
Color me shocked. Locals should have put chains on their 4x4/AWDs.

Going up and down Northwoods isn’t really an issue - that lower half of Northwoods probably gets more attention than any other road in Truckee. I’ve really only ever had one sketchy occurrence there with dust on slush conditions.

Also, I’ve learned when things are super sketchy it’s best to just park at the very bottom of your driveway. My driveway isn’t even very steep but I’ve been woken up during the night by my truck’s alarm because it slid back down to the bottom. And I have good tires.
I've seen Northwoods closed a handful of times over the years. Now that I think of it, that's instead of requiring chains which no one has. They just send people to Alder Creek.

FYI, no more street parking near the heavenly cal base, glad I decided to not buy a pass this year due to last years parking reservation system, now you can’t even arrive early to snag a place to park without paying

The power just came back on in Galena and it looks like the Calahan fire is contained at 100 acres.

Don't see how that isn't going to suck - big time! :-(

This has been brewing for a while now. All about annexation (money).

I don't get it, the Cal base lot is tiny, where are we supposed to park? In Nevada?

    it’s weird

it’s almost as if they don’t want people to just buy a pass and go skiing

    But wait, there's more...

MEYERS, Calif. – A restless crowd demanded answers and solutions from the district offices of El Dorado County on Thursday night, after learning that snow removal services would be far more limited than in years past. The main reason for these limited operations lies in the lower pay offered to potential snow removal employees.

Could be a rough season on the south side. Better dust off that old cross country gear.

She'll mostly be driving to Palisades 5-6 days/wk. TIA!
Thirty years driving around Tahoe and I've been asked to see chains once. It was 11pm and I was headed over Brockway in a blizzard to go to the bar with a car full of friends. The moral of that story was that he was politely telling me to go home.

I'd buy some cheap cables to throw in the back if you want to really be on it. A bucket of sand will generally get more use than chains.

Anybody else out driving around Truckee yesterday? The official indoctrination to snow season. It was a total junk show!! Freeway closed, cars in ditches, trucks stuck. I was really happy to get home just as the sun poked through.

It's an icy mess up high this AM. Time to get some sand on the driveway and get the groms to school. Winter is here!!

That’s an odd choice since the 89 downgrade is even steeper and the turn onto Alder Creek is off camber and super sketchy. I’ve seen so many vehicles that have slid into that guardrail.

I predict more snow days for kids and businesses not being able to open or scaled back services due to people not being able to get to work. Hopefully no one dies cause a ambulance can’t get to a residence.

Ambulances can't get to my house any time it snows on Sunday and a lot of other Sundays too, summer and winter. And we can't get out.

We are the wealthiest nation on earth and we can’t figure out how to plow our roads in a reasonable amount of time. Something is very wrong.

Vail has shared a plan to Wall Street that involves significant cost cutting on operations over the next two years. Let’s see what that means for the skiing experience at their resorts.

Yeah but I mean do you know how inconvenient it is to only have one mega yacht vs just keeping one out West and the other in the Mediterranean? Let’s not dismiss these unfortunate souls and burden them with taxes.

Who cares if some schmuck can’t get to the hospital on time? It’s really their own fault if you think about it.

Someone sent me this earlier today. Inspirational, and timely.

My brother got stuck in his car since afternoon. He is near <address removed>, He is running out of gas. We tried our best to reach out to fire department, police and tow companies, but didn’t get any help yet.

    Please someone help me.
