I'm a noob to the Tahoe ski scene, but talking about doing a little side country off Alpine...twin peaks. Any beta on that little shot? Is that boot pack? Looks like you can do a 2nd shorty lap too?

That’s a super long ridge hike from AM and will drop you into the where the fuck am I hole. Better to do it from below than from AM

And the inbounds part of the the traverse from AM could be closed. They've been closed a lot the last 2 seasons.

I did this last Sunday, there's a pretty obvious skin + boot track along the Ridgeline. I wouldn't want to boot the whole thing, it's pretty far.

I haven't done it from below but agree that the Ridge hike is kinda a slog. Skinning back up for a second lap would be pretty easy.

Snow wasn't very good but it's a cool line.

Thanks you guys. Ya, its almost like a Taos Katchina ridge hike as opposed to a skin up, so the skin from the base sounds better I guess.

    Booting out would’ve been miserable

It's been a while since I skied Twin. It definitely helps to start high off the shoulder of Ward Peak; a descending traverse from there will get you closer quicker than starting at the base. I wouldn't know about following the ridge, but it looks potentially nasty on the topo map.

Skied down to the creek and then skinned back to Sherwood. I never quite know where I'm going back there but somehow always end up back at the lift at least.

The ridge is fine as long as you stay away from the cornices, there are some big ones. There's just a lot of ski, then bootpack, then ski, then skin etc sort of transitions.

Tahoe '24/'25 - This Thread Shall Not Be Privatized!!

Weirdly, there’s no radar returns anywhere but it’s been nonstop light snow in Tahoma and the Alpine cams are showing the same

He did it wrong. Just skiing along/just riding along is supposed to be for broken skis/bikes, not broken self.

Lifts were running at alpine. It was pretty awful. Raining (at 10:30ish) to well above the bottom of abc.

6?y/o NSDevo team kid described todays snow as follows:
“It’s like skiing on pancakes covered with glue.”
I thought that was rather apropos.

OV was running lifts, but not Headwall or Granite. Leeward stuff was great up as high as we could get.

Ended up not heading to twin peaks and splitboarded up Rubicon yesterday. Beautiful day up there and a perfect pitch (for me and my kid) on a snowboard. I hadn't stood sidewaze in 4 yrs or so. First several turns were interesting.
