    fair warning

pay attention when traveling up or down the Castle Pass skinner - you might have yerself and yer shit all over the trail then here comes ~mikey b yeehawing his way at mach looney down the trail - if you hear “LADY WITH A BABY COMIN’ THROUGH” you should probable either get out of the way or brace for impact

the smiling happy snowshoe guide and his lovely client were duly entertained as I came flying by barely holding onto the reigns, skis a buckin’ and a kickin’, trying to keep my ass in the saddle and off the ground

the group of school kids from Sac scattered like a flock of pigeons

    hee haw

I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

If you missed this flick when it was at The Tahoe Art Haus Tuesday and Wednesday, try and hunt it down online.
It’s a cool story about how we all have different definitions of what skiing is to us. And it does that rare balance of ski porn and an actual story with character development.

Almost all Forest Service staff in Tahoe canned. They manage a smaller area than Yosemite that sees twice as many visitors.

Was able to get out Tuesday with Mashed Potatoes. Kirkwood delivered. Bluebird, with about 4" overnight allowing the front to ski deep until the backside opened. Moving was glorious. Skied well all day, even a final run off 10 at closing.

Cold air kept the snow good tho sunny slopes getting heavy late. Didn't pull out the camera often enough. Healing thumb may have contributed but it didn't keep Mashed from goading me off and down through some fun times.

Mashed Potatoes. The Wave was prime for some air time with plush landings

Vista at 3:30. It had been skied but still had piles and piles of uncut snow.

Snow was still light enough that disturbed snow ski almost as well as the fresh patches.

Hope to get out again sometime soon.

It turned to rain at about 8k when we came down from Carson at noon.

Somehow this thing wasn't gangbanged to hell over the last few days. My wife's first time skiing it, as well as our friends. Best conditions I've had in there. Like any good husband, I failed to get a single shot of my wife

    A busy day for non-groomer skiers [emoji41]
HV has their Gunbarrel 25. (Laps of E.Face/Gunbarrel)
And Mt.Rose has their Steep 16 (Laps of the Chutes).
Hope the weather cooperates. Was hella windy at Mt.Blows tonight (open until 6pm), so closed the summit chair, but they kept Lakeview running.

    Hey brotherman [emoji186]
Lucky enough to be able to avoid weekends.
Might hit up Rose for the last few hours (6pm on Sats too)!

I'm a little surprised to hear bombing at Sugar Bowl this morning. They must have gotten enough rain to saturate the latest new snow. They only claim an inch of snow in the last 24.

It's a shame that patrollers are still getting hurt in avalanche control.
In the pyrenees resort where i ski half of each winter, there are none. The resort uses a lot of gazex, explosives on cables, and the only places a patroller will throw a hand charge are on ridges where it's safe.

It is a shame.Perhaps part of the reason for the difference might be that in Europe they would not control the kind of terrain that's controlled here. Only slopes that threaten the pistes would be controlled, the rest would be ski at your own risk. Decreased risk to patrollers in Europe but increased risk to skiers. It seems that is reflected in the numbers but it's hard to compare apples and oranges.

I think it's money, and disregard for human life. After all, gazex was installed at squaw what, 10 years ago, when it was common in Europe for many years before

I’ve never been to the Pyrenees, but isn’t it a hard comparison to draw? How many routes are they controller over a certain area? How many skiers are dying or being caught in avalanches that access the terrain via the lift system? Etc.

Of the three local shops I've been to--Olympic Boot Works, Sports Hub, and a third that's been out of business for years, I prefer OBW. I can't comment on the others that I haven't had fittings at. OBW does drop ins, which has its pros and cons. If I ever get too old to get my boots off myself that's definitely where I'd go, based on seeing someone else go there for that.

Not many die at all. And even though they blast only above groomed runs, it's pretty much the entire resort.

Whaaaaaaa? I think you must be trying to blow this shit up.

    How many routes?

Yay. This forum is fucked. But it's not just the server. Rarely any stoke at all. Member when people used to post stole up in these threads? Go ski. Take pics and post. You guys are out like four days a week for ducks sake. I'm stuck in the coast. Post up some hucks ducks.

But sure. Way more slide paths at Palisades than elsewhere. But sure. We could use more gazex.

Was looking at the bomb holes on 99 Steps the other day. Was wondering if some dude on patrol had a MLB arm, as sling shot or if their artillery was back is fashion. No idea. So we skied instead
