Keep in mind that it’s been roughly 5 years since I’ve gone out to eat anywhere in SLT.

None of these are within “reasonable” walking distance from “downtown” (gondola base), but these have been my favorite “bougie” eating spots:

    FRESCANA in Meyers

VERDE at “The Y” was also solid bougie Mexican.

    ARTEMIS MEDITERRANEAN (two locations)

    NAKED FISH SUSHI
(Been a spell since I’ve been here, but an old elementary school chum used to own it and one time I took OG TGR poster Brklyn there. She was, of course from NY and I was living in SF at the time. We were both self-described sushi snobs and loved it).

I remember the pizza at BASE CAMP being pretty decent…

HIMMEL HOUSE was a cool, kitschy German restaurant (though I remember their beer selection being better than the food; my spaetzel was cold the time I went and I had to keep returning it, but the beers were cold, so I kept drinking…)

FRESHIES and SPROUT’s were always solid when I have gone in the past

Ballys is trash. Harrahs is nicer than Harvey’s. Marriott much nicer than all three. Steakhouse on the 19th floor of Harrah’s is a nice spot with views.

I know you're down. There's some fun skiing off of RT. Lots of exposure, rocks and firm snow. Adventure skiing.

Ski team starts this weekend, right?

If the village is denied again in court don't be surprised to see Alterra take their football and go home, ala Homewood.

Not a chance in hell. Don’t be so dramatic. The Governor would literally step in if they tried to pull something like that. Homewood is tiny and under the radar in comparison.

Make it a coop governed by consensus! Sell off all high speed lifts for slow chairs to generate revenue. [insert other half-baked ideas here] :P

    Let's rename it Space mtn.

Space mtn skied good today. They are now farming corn out in sun bowl. They closed it a little after lunch today and I just missed another lap in there. But overall good variable conditions to be found on most of the mtn.

They are all trash. But you gotta stay and eat somewhere, I guess. Nice thing about the casino core is you can go to Dotty’s to grab a pack of smokes and some meth.

I was being sarcastic, but in what universe do you think the governor has the power to do anything about it if they did decide not to open? I suppose he could call out the National Guard to run the lifts, but no, it's a private business and it has the right to shut down. I suppose the govt could try eminent domain but I doubt that would work. I have news for you--the vast majority of citizens of this state could give a shit if a bunch of mostly entitled folks can ski.

He wouldn’t need to call out the guard. All it would take is just a little more yeyo and the plumpjack crew can run things

I’m gonna say that an investment group doesn’t want to be on the governor of California’s bad side. There are a lot of levers that could be pulled. Pretty sure Olympic Valley is a historical site due to the 62 Olympics for starters.

Or maybe it’s the other way around. You don’t want to be labeled “anti business” by an investment group if you plan to run for president. The group, of course, won’t label him anti business they will just donate to a PAC that will…

Didn't see either a wallet capture dude or the governor. But, honestly it was quite dark by the time I finished.

ROFL, you won’t find either in the backcountry which is where I spend most of my time. Pic from earlier this week.

Newsome would welcome that shit and position himself as taking a stand against the shitty company that took away a beloved ski area from the people. They’d be doing him a favor. Anyway this is a dumb conversation- it’s not going to happen.

Teams started yesterday. Great day one for me and my quads are feeling it after 9 Reverse Traverse laps. Skied all variations of the Slot, lower light towers (via mid traverse), Garbage Chute, Upper and Lower North Bowl, Hogsback, Headwall Face and a few Cornice bowl laps. National Chute not really worth the hike IMHO. Mountain Run was in better shape than expected.

    We need snow.

Classic was great last Wednesday, yesterday a bit more rocks Ala box chute early season.
BC corn havest was good today. Existing skin tracks are quite slippery, better to set your own.

    N. Fork of the American is holding up ok on the south facing terrain above 7,200 ft., which was soft off the ridges by 11:00 a.m.Name: IMG_6057.jpg

Coldstream/Truckee River Basin had some creamy re-crystallized surface snow coming off the crest. Below 7,500 it was frozen crust and too early for more complicated terrain. Brush and dead-fall was encountered between 7,000 and 6, 800 ft.
    S. Yuba off of Judah is still holding the most base above 7,000 ft.

Nice to be booting chutes again. Even nicer to ski down them in good snow. I stopped just shy of topping out the middle one when it got down to 6" of facets on rock
