Add tail attachment to twin tip ski

Hey I have some Nordica enforcer 104 free I will be adding pomoca skins to. I wish to buy/fabricate a glued tail clip receiver. Current form not the best skin holder. I have some 1/4” cutting board and best idea is to just make it out of that.

Perhaps just buy the g3 twin tip clip? skimo.co carries them. They actually are perfectly compatible with pomoca rubber straps. The grooves in the rubber strap line up really well with the nubs on the g3 clip.

I didn’t need to modify my personal setup at all with this exact arrangement and they haven’t had any issues. Works perfect IME.

I did exactly this for my Bentchetler 120s. Not perfect but definitely better than the original Pomoca clips.

Curious where you felt they weren't perfect, as I only have experience using them with one ski/skin combo... Wondering what my blindspots might be if/when I try it on a different setup. Thanks!

The G3 twin tip clips are certainly an upgrade for my BC 120s.

But they don’t stay put perfectly, occasionally I’ll kick them off.

I even tried increasing the friction of the clip on the top sheet with little dots of superglue to make the interface less smooth, and that helps too.

But: compared to my Line Vision 108s, where I can actually carve out a notch in the twin tail? For twin tip touring skis, that is fool proof.

    Super helpful, thanks!

and great point, dremelling a ~3.5cm x 2-3mm notch into the tail of the skis works really dang nicely w/ Pomoca skins too

I did this with a steak knife and a big file

I guess I need to upgrade my tool kit

If your ski ends are plastic caps you can file notches but for a ski with a full edge wrap on the tail probably the G3 kit is the way to go

IME the Twin tip kit stays on really well in fact they are hard to get off so I have to slide them off to either side

I have some of the regular G3 tails that seem to stay on my Lotus 120 almost all the time, I think it depends on the profile of your ski's tail

Pomoca skins are my favorite. But unless they've updated the material, the tail clips are guaranteed to break eventually.

My Pomocas are on dynafits so the tail is just a SS hook with a rubber stretcher on the tip

when the rubber dies its easy n cheaper to make new stretchers from 3mm bungy

Sometimes you get shown things. Last winter my pomoca tail strap broke. Knife cleaned tail, awled holes into strap and skin, ran zip ties through and cut them off. Held like a champ after for 10 days Roger’s, Mines, Washington. If breaks at holes, plenty of room to repeat.

I need to look at skis again,

yeah you wana keep an eye on tail straps but when they break duct tape is yer friend, I took an aviy course from a guy who just used duct tape or gun tape on skins that had no tail attachment at all
