Some people were excited about it, some people were mad about it. Same as always.

Best addition the bird has ever done.
    Bar none.
This is the parking thread, however.
Back to business: It is awesome that the bird has no parking reservations.
Makes it sos me and everyone else that drives up there alone fills up the parking without filling up the lift lines...

You're really onto something here. Plenty of stories of people driving up and not gettign a spot and just going home too. Sucks if it's you, better for the rest of us though.

Also love me some Mineral Basin. Rarely ski back there but it sure swallows up a lot of people.

I will go on record as disliking the Mineral Nasin expansion. It is one of the reasons I quit getting Alta season passes. Used to be a special place with Alta to White Pine and beyond ski tours unique. Jimmy may remeber when we did one after the lifts and one of the party was late so...Mogo threatened arrest and Jimmy let us pass. Lowers are melted by the time Mineral closes for the season. So sad.

I remember that day, Bob, and have always sympathized with the touring communities loss of Mineral. Did a lot of touring out that way myself.
Kinda feel bad for driving to the bird alone, but to get on a bus is going 3 miles in the wrong direction, and to hitchhike to an $1100 locker?
Figure that for gas money, and the vehicle is my locker...

I feel bad too. Most of my ski days are just trying to squeeze in a few runs and the bus doubles the time I spend doing it easily.Excuses excuses, oh well.

Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

Sorry for the JONG question — parking on the SR one ninety with a $ten town of Brighton reservation lets you just walk to Solitude right? Do the other BCC reservations fill up faster just because they’re more convenient spots?

I got a fucking parking ticket parked at Argenta and it is obviously not my fault. I'm doubly pissed because I let it ruin a fantastic day of skiing. $150!!! Props to my partner for dealing with me after having to walk up the road with hurty feet AND getting a ticket, I was pissy the whole ride down.

Why did you get a ticket at Argenta? Has UDOT installed “no parking” signs there like they have near the white pine trailhead? I’ve seen people get tickets for parking further down the road near the shed but never at the trailhead itself.

The elimination of some roadside parking in the cottonwoods is concerning…. UDOT hasn’t been plowing the normal roadside parking spots this year and it has made parking at normal winter trailheads even more dangerous.

No "no parking" signs, but I was a car length ahead of the "avalanche zone no stopping standing etc" sign. I was so concerned with making sure I was behind the white line, and that there were no standard "no parking" signs that I completely missed the big sign.
For my own defense I was right across from the orange round 9.1 sign that designates a safe zone, but I digress....

The roadside parking this year has been tough, seems many of the normal spots aren't plowed well, and the Sheriff just hands out tickets where UPD would often leave a note if the "no parking" designation was difficult to assess..

Vibes to those in LCC right now. Hearing of an Avy closing SR-210. Fingers crossed no vehicles caught.

Sounds like no injuries per Twitter. Glad we snuck out just before the closure. Safe travels to everyone tonight!

Tomorrow will be high pressure. Road will definitely open, timing is another issue. Wind was ripping all day in a direction that was loading all the paths that affect the road. Add in high pi rates and it’s a recipe for disaster. Slide that shut the canyon was a path that wasn’t shot during the mid day shoot. The cornice in monte cristo saddle is pnw size right now. Hope the valley gun can put a bullet in there. Tomorrow should be excellent and a total cluster fuck. Stay safe if you’re going into the BC, tomorrow has accident potential written in all caps
