    Well, there you go...

Just like rice cooker is for people who cant cook rice on the stovetop, instapots are for people who can't handle a regular pressure cooker.

I like to use a rice cooker. But its pretty simple to cook rice on the stove. A pot with a transparent lid takes all the mystery out of the process, imho. Every brand and type of rice has its own water ratio so it's best to choose a brand and stick with it. Experimentation will get you to the ideal ratio. I don't regard rice as convenient food. It takes time to get perfect rice. Bring it to a boil slowly and then rest it for 30 minutes after the water is absorbed.

I don't think I would have paid list fo rice cooker but I often see rice cookers/ shitty espresso makers/ airfryers/ George Foreman grills on FB for cheap which is where I found mine for 10$ a couple year ago

I just made rice on the stove for many years after my first ric cooker ( wedding presant ) shit the bed but we can't have uncle Roger in a thread without the rice thing on which Ng made a lot of bank and pissed off a lot of people

    https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/u...hnk/index.html

so if you are pissed off blame uncle Roger

apparently george Forman made more $$$$$$ on those grills than he ever did getting punched in the head

I think Uncle Roger calls that ^^ a hate crime and all those plastic bags will give you man boobs so I cook an excess amount and freeze the leftover in 1 man portion glass 2 cup anchor-hocking micro wave containers

I will be sure to tell my asian son in law and his family that they are doing it wrong. I’m sure they will appreciate your wisdom on the matter.

Ahhh.....I think you missed my point, which is the guy knocking rice cookers admits to owning an instapot. Instapot is the same thing, basically. It's a thermostat and timer. My point: how can you knock one and not the other.

Like I said, I have a rice cooker for convenience...and a proper pressure cooker and a proper deep fryer. Fuck instapots and air fryers.

OTOH George Foreman has a net worth of 300 million and he couldn't have done that without the people who buy shit they don't really need and he seems like a pretty nice guy, i mean hes no Mike Tyson

I use my insta pot for big jobs. Rice for 2-4 people is a small job. And honestly, i never really wanted it, but I caved. I use it for pot roast on the days I don't feel like smoking the beef on the grill and finishing it there too. Its great if you have frozen chunks of stew meat and need stew quickly. I also put carnitas seasoning on meat and throw it in when I need a bunch of shredded meat in a hurry. Otherwise, it collects dust on the counter. I don't need a rice cooker sitting next to it. However, next time I want rice for 8+ people, I'll use it, just because of this thread.

Instapots are fantastic for making stocks and broths. No, it’s not 24hrs in the oven at 250F perfectly browned meat stocks for my Michelin * but it’s good enough.

micro wave & BD toaster oven that is good mostly just for toast I will use every day but if I didnt find the 10$ ricecooker I would not have bothered

Back in the day a roomate uses the rice cooker doesnt wash it , the moving crew packs it up with the leftover rice which rots a hole in the pot those things are pretty cheaply made
