You're so stuck on thinking I'm a cunt that you're missing that we're saying the same thing and that I think we should expand it. Medicare runs on a different reimbursement schedule than other public employee schedules. The feds pump tons off subsidy into the private insurance market that could be redirected into a single payer system. I'm saying Medicare for all is the only feasible fix at this point but doubt it will happen. It would also make healthcare systems not much of a target for PE money.

This is not me, and I don't know if PE is involved here, but I don't think this is an unusual experience these days for a lot of folks.

I recently met with a PCP for the first time and was shocked when the bill came 2 weeks later. It was a basic appt lasting about 30 minutes where I needed to refill a prescription and asked some questions about frequent bloating. I have a high deductible plan, so I paid for the total cost out of pocket. After calling into UCSD Health to confirm what was included in the $865, they said that was how much a regular Doctors appt cost.

Another bill I had was $2000 for regular blood work. Fortunately, insurance kicked in and paid most of it, but my portion was another $825.

FTC has been attempting to regulate, though lost in court recently to stop a Texas roll-up of anesthesia providers.

I'd bet the FTC will continue with this (unless the November election changes it up) all the same.

Possibly a few successful regulatory actions (state or federal) and you'd chill the activity - it'll never go away, but it can be tamped down until memories dim.
