Any SoCal Mags Install Binding Inserts??

After dozens of successful hand mounts, i just got 2 spinners during a mount (on the same heel piece), and do not want to get new bindings or majorly move the mount... g-flex and wood dowels didn't work and don't trust 2 heli coils in same heel piece. I'm gonna reach out to mammoth mountaineering and phil's in costa mesa (binding freedom recommended shops), but wanted to check here first.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Hesitant to say that I am good at installing inserts but just finished mounting a pair MTNs with inserts. Have the right drill bit and install screw but you need to provide your own inserts and fasteners.

Im in pasadena, hit me on my cell if your want to try 2018190831 since the messaging on this site is borked.

A helicoil is an insert, and is what you want unless you are going to use inserts on the whole binding because you want to move it from ski to ski, on multiple pr of skis with inserts.

Dead easy to do with the kit.
Move upside and let the man go through...

Ya. This is the answer. You don’t want to just do inserts because of spinners. Helicoil is actually stronger than a regular insert. That some strands of steel wool and fill the holes with epoxy and the wool and screw the screw in and let it cure. Probably won’t spin anymore. If they do then just helicoil them.

Thanks for all the offers and advice. Will probably forego stainless steel insert for helicoil or snoli nylon insert

fwiw, I've had better experiences with nylon tap-in inserts and Binding Freedom inserts than helicoils. I agree that a BF insert for a spinner is overkill and would go with the nylon tap-in insert for simplicity and durability.

I’m the tech at Phil’s that pushed to get the BF insert kit. I would agree that steel/brass inserts are overkill for spinners.

Make sure you apply a liberal amount of epoxy when installing heli coils. It’s not common but I have seen 2 skis with rotted cores because the holes were not sealed properly.

    Good luck!
