After seeing an ad for this company making custom printed sun hoodies (https://partyshirtinternational.com/...ns/sun-hoodies) I want to make some for my friends but don’t want to shell out $70 per piece. I assume they just use a drop shipping company from Alibaba or similar but figuring out a fabric that would be reasonable for spring skiing is a pain.
Initial quotes from some companies on alibaba are around $17 per piece for full custom printing.
Any insights from gear nerds with relevant experience would be welcome. Especially, related to selecting fabrics that would be good for a sun hoody.
Not exactly an answer, but I know that Corbeaux clothing makes an AWESOME sun hoody (Chinook), they are on sale for like $50, they are good peeps and ripping skiers, and might be worth shooting them an email to see if anything lines up.
The most comfortable hoodie I’ve worn is the https://freeflyapparel.com/collectio...die-palm-greenFree Fly Bamboo Lightweight Hoodie. I haven’t had a chance to sweat in it for a week straight, but after two days of moderate sweating it retained very little odor.
I’ve also worn the https://www.outdoorresearch.com/coll...-hoodie-300837OR Astroman for about 4 days down in the desert while sweating pretty heavily. That got pretty stinky, but kept me very well protected from the sun. Also stood up to a decent amount of abuse.
I love merino wool for its odor resistance and comfort, but it’s really expensive and not as durable. Merino/polyester blends can be a good compromise, but I’ve encountered some cheaper blends that get the weird “burnt rubber” smell when wet. High quality (read: expensive) merino does not have that issue in my experience.
