    Question iPod nano shit

I'm playing with my new toy and realized I forgot the box of instructions.

Here's what I've done so far.
    1) loaded software (iTunes, iPod)
    2) downloaded my clusterfuck of mp3s with all shitty names/labels.
    3) Synched the ipod and loaded up 2 gigs of mp3s with shitty name formats...(example: "Track 01, artist, album" or "GunsnRoses-01-Welcometo the Jungle", 02-It's_so_easy")

Basically my mp3 folder is a clusterfuck of shitty named files. I'm going through iTunes and painstakingly updating each file one by one with the correct name, album and artist (Yes, I know there's an automatic feature that does it, but a lot of my files are obscure shit).

Now my question is- after I finish cleaning up this shit, can I just:

    a) re-synch my ipod and it will automatically update the file names?

    Or

    b) will it copy my entire music library so it duplicates everything I have on the iPod?

I bet it'll treat them as new different files. It's worth updating the mp3 tags too. Have fun.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

there's an easier shortcut w/ itunes....

    just:
    • search in the little search bar for all songs by an artist.... (say "nin" for all nine inch nails) select all of the songs by your particular artist (using the shift and control keys)
    • right click (or ctrl click if you're driving a mac) and "get info"
    • enter correct artist name ("Nine Inch Nails" for our little example)
    • click 'ok'

i don't worry about organization beyond just getting all my 'sarah brightman' or 'the sundays' songs into their own individual folders though....so that may not work as well for you as it did for me.

i never got motivated to clean up my mp3's until i got an ipod either....

anymore, though, it's just always on shuffle.

edit: oh yeah, and to answer your question...if you have it set up to automatically sync...what's in itunes will reflect to your ipod. it keeps track of every piddlin thing you change. delete a file in itunes...it'll be deleted off your ipod; change a filename or id3 in itunes.... you get it. it's all very clean, very chic...
