South Ken is pretty high rent, there’s not a lot of cheap stuff there. Ranoush is is a Lebanese place; I’ve not been there but the owner’s other places are solid.

Mohsen is a great Persian place.

Dishoom’s not really my vibe (I’m more about the small independent restaurants than the chains) but the food is solid and it is justifiably popular.

Maria G’s is a good upmarket brasserie, reasonable prices for the area.

For the really good value stuff you’ll need to travel a bit. Couple of places off the top of my head: in Soho (both very near Piccadilly Circus which is tourist central) are Brasserie Zedel (a great inexpensive Paris style brasserie) and Speedboat Bar (Thai drinking food, killer lunch deals).

There are plenty of restaurants in central London that do great lunch deals, it’s a really good way to eat at some of the best places without paying top dollar. Noble Rot is a great example, plenty of other options here.

Unlike family photos of the royals, things tend not to change quickly over there.

It’s hard to give recommendations without knowing what you like - there is so much to do. Here are a couple of generic resources that you can use to match your interests.

Walking Tours are guided by actors/students etc and are a great way of seeing parts of London that you might not see otherwise, and learning some history, architecture or just fun facts as you go. There are many companies - here’s one https://www.walks.com/

Another great resource is TimeOut (https://www.timeout.com/london) - choose your fun.

It is. My grandparents lived a block away from the main entrance. I remember as a little kid being given a penny from grandma's purse to pay the one penny daily admission and pushing the big rotating gate open.

London is super cool, getting my history geek on in a big way. Also crazy to see all the Lambos, Ferrari's, Porsche's, Astons, McLaren's, etc all street parked without a care. That's something you won't see in any large American city.

It was also sunny and 70 degrees today, I am definitely overdressed right now.

Whan that Aprille with his shoures soote,
The droghte of March hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licóur
    Of which vertú engendred is the flour;

What have you seen so far? My own trip is coming up in a couple months and still trying to figure out what to do with my limited time in London.

^^^^^^ GF Handel said that Dutch girls were whores before they married, French girls were whores after, and English girls ....

He lived next door to Jimi Hendrix by the way.
Not at the same time though.

We have not been to London in 20 years, but I remember loving the city. We only had three nights there and the first two days I was up at around 3am to go walk about as soon as the sun came up (jet lag). I would love to go back and spend a month or three, as there is so much cool stuff to see in the UK. Enjoy your trips guys.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I’ve done london probably 25 times, or more.

Take a day trip to Windsor.
    Go see a play
St. Paul’s, and walk the river. The tower, etc.

Many of these are owned by Russians... you'll see teenagers driving fancy cars around.
