    RIP.
DTM and I were so sad to hear about his passing.
It's pretty amazing that hearing of his passing has brought a lot of the OG folks out of the woodwork.
I rarely post in here anymore, but he deserves it.
    Lots of love.

    ACE, I will miss you.

Our personal interactions weren't as in depth as others, I only met him a few times, but he was a good egg. The guy was part of a group of people that remain very special to me and it hurts any time we have to let them go, especially when it is too soon.

I needed to say something here about armchair because our former haunts are all gone. As the rolling waves of time reach out and crumble the special places we used to visit, we all stayed in touch one way or another. The last few years I had a hard time keeping track of him. I would find out information from one friend or another what he was doing, where he was living or hear random stories of people running into him.

Always fascinating, always interesting and one of the originals.

    Use the Claw End:

    Rest In Peace, Armchair Extreme.

I never lost touch with ACE, I knew him a lot more than some, but not enough. He was a real one though. If you were passing through he rolled out the carpet. If coming to visit you knew you were in for a good time.

I was young when we met. He was wise and shared his wisdom with me. He went through a lot of the same life cycles I have and I think it brought us together.

Armchair Extreme was a maggots maggot and we are worse off without him.

Many near misses over the years - we'd plan to meet up whenever work took me to NY and he or I would have to bail on short notice for various reasons. Wish I'd met the guy who always seemed cool both in the Forum(s) and in PMs/emails. My friends who knew him well (like Woodsy) would always tell me that I had to meet ACE - now that chance is gone. RIP.

I never knew ACE personally. Oddly, my lady was good friend's with his lady for a time in Philly. They all hung out together and went to lots of good restaurants and shows both there and in Providence.

I only knew of the actual person - and had heard of his unfortunate passing a few months ago. Only in reading this thread on TGR did I put together the connection with ACE and the person I knew of. I don't think our TGR paths ever really crossed. We would have been in NYC and Philly at the same times as well but don't think our actual paths crossed either.

My lady said he was an amazing cook and chef which probably isn't surprising given his profession, but she has good taste and that is a high complement. She said his paella was his specialty and was amazing! More recently he tended more toward vegan and was pretty adamant about both being vegan and cooking vegan!

His ex said he had a great passion for music - live shows especially and spoke of PFF and intimate shows at North Star and hanging out with the artists til dawn after.

He truly sounded like the embodiment of a magg - in the best sense of all that word uses to describe those of this tribe...which is definitely weaker with this news.

Wished to have known you, not known of you, Armchair Extreme. God speed.

Sad to hear but nice to see so many "old timers" coming to pay their respects. Though we were the same age, I was an infant when he was an elder.

Read about his passing yesterday. Seems like the solid embodiment of a Mag. My wife calls this place my imaginary friends but it seems in a certain time and place imaginary became real for so many here. Nevertheless, it rare to come across folks like this. If you do a handful of times in your life, consider yourself lucky.

Aw, man. I wasn't as close to him as many of you were, but we shared turns and drinks. He always left everyone with a smile and good memories.

Goodbye, ACE. Just poured out a shot of Templeton on the snow and shed a tear for you.

Thank you Odin. This brought a smile and tears to my face. This is one of the best ski trips of my life and I'm sure everyone who was there remembers it like yesterday.

Sounds like a great guy. A real old timer, as I've been around a long time and barely remember him. RIP. Condolences to his family and all the maggots that knew him.

Just found out 5 minutes ago via a phone call, I didn't see this thread or have any idea. What a good guy. What a bummer. RIP ACE.

One time on the board he told a crazy story about being in Boston and getting attacked by some maniac and his conclusion has always stuck with me (somewhat paraphrased): "When you are being attacked by a maniac, and you have a hammer, do not hit the maniac with the flat side of the hammer." Lesson learned.

Armchair was also on the front line of backing Silverton, stumping for a letter writing campaign to support them back in 2002.

I found this post in a thread I remembered... back in 2007 (I thought it was only 2 years ago!)

He had come back to say hello to his old mag friends. To me, as a Jong, I couldn't help but notice the warm welcome everyone gave him. Seems like a really great guy. I'm posting it, because he definitely inspired me and has some nice words at the end that still ring true:

Big Daddy and many of the "newer" maggots, I'm glad you recognize how close this cool group of people became. You folks have a stumbled into a very special place and if you take care of it and use good judgment, every little bit can contribute to make it magical. You will reap unimaginable rewards if you trust a little and take care of each other.

Of course, you should also never miss an opportunity to mercilessly embarrass and harrass each other too. In a loving and humorous way.

I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible in the snow.
    RIP ACE.

Wow, such a bummer. He was one of those guys we would bump into in the strangest places and always share a laugh (and a beer later). People like him are what used to make this place so cool. I'm going to make a turn for him today.
