    ^^Same. Will also be curious how the Backland XTD stacks up.

    My guess is the Ridge Pro will walk better but won’t ski like a 4 buckle overlap boot.

    I’m curious about the cuff pivot, as it looks from the exterior like the Cochise cuff pivot, and those ones oval easily (I got about 50 days out of mine before they were completely shot).

    Hopefully it’s just the exterior looks that are similar.

    My main question is what did they skimp on to come up with the huge weight savings vs. the current iteration? Hopefully not the liner again. Guess I'll wait and see

    Hopefully they didn’t change the fit too much. It’s always easier to make a small boot bigger than a big boot smaller.

    I thought this was a mountain biking boot...what's the best clipless pedal option?

    If this boot walks better than the Backland XTD I'll be shocked but that will be a good thing. My bet would be on a ROM closer to the Hawx XTD but with a weight lighter than the Backland XTD. If it actually hits 130 flex index then it's probably like a brick wall.

    The ZGTP in 26.5 bsl 303mm without optional spoilers or laces in liners comes in at 1310g.

    Compare with 1422g for the Backland XTD 120, 1384g for the older ZGTP (Intuition liners)

    More weight comps

    An Intuition Protour is 283g. The stock ZGTP liner is 260g. A Dynafit Hoji ProTour liner is 240g.

    The ZGTP Shell itself is 1058g

    Some notes re fit compared to the older boot and in isolation without yet cooking the liner

    The toebox feels like the touted 99mm last. It is a polyamide so should hold a punch as well as the previous rev ZGTP. While it's not a narrow toebox it's not the cavern that is a Dynafit. I'd say it's a touch wider than the Atomic Hawx Ultra for example.

    The ankle hold and the heel hold feel tighter and more clamped down than the previous rev ZGTP. It feels narrow enough that my flat foot and medium volume ankles may need a punch as well as a liner cook. Without yet having it on snow I'd suspect this will provide improved ski performance.

    Noticeably there's a removable boot board which well help for fitting. It's not a cardboard facsimile of the previous rev which had a habit of breaking when removed.

    The liner itself looks quite promising. It's got a supportive tongue and feels like it actually has substance, something that you'd find hard pressed to say about the previous rev ZGTP. The stock footbed isn't anything to shout home about but perhaps that's for weight considerations and easily replaced

    Some other random notes follow

    The shell looks highly sculpted. It looks like Tecnica has tried really hard to save weight

    The boot has a nicely aggressive Vibram ISO9523 sole

    The walk mode still looks suitably beefy; somewhat like the older ZGTP

    As with the older ZGTP there's a flip chip allowing forward lean to be changed from 12 to 13 degrees. It comes stock in steeper mode and is still a pain to change (same strippable Phillips screws) so don't bother unless you want to get an aftermarket mod to get significantly more lean.

    The cuff pivots look changed and I'll try to confirm if that's the case. The older ZGTP cuff pivots would develop wear after 30-50 days resulting in ankle slop so hopefully that's been addressed Name:  20240216_144114.jpeg

    Yah. Blister has it at 14 (16 with spoiler). The docs I have stated 12/13 (15 with spoiler).

    I'll check with Tecnica.

    My docs also say there's a cant mechanism but I don't see it. Another thing to confirm

    No flip chip… screws are there just so the mechanism can be easily replaced. Best locktite known to man for a reason! You don’t want those falling out when you’re a long ways from home. Everyone wants everything screw removable until they don’t..

    No canting that I’m aware of

    Forward lean has been increased

    Cuff pivots are similar to that of the latest Cochise… Metal pivoting around metal instead of metal pivoting around grilamid which caused ovaling over time and hence “slop”

    Excited for this boot. How is the fit over the top of the foot? More instep room? Hopefully the screws to adjust the forward lean are made out of some harder steel this time.

    Hey guys, I got some time in the new one as well.

    As Wasatch stated, there is no adjustment for the forward lean. It is now a boot with 14* forward lean.

    Instep is 1mm higher, IMO it takes away the aggressive "shark bite" instep pressure where the instep would bend into the upper cuff. Makes it a lot easier to get on as well.

    Toe box is "modern" like a Cochise/Mach 1....longer toe area in the 1st and 2nd met heads, and most important, sixth toe area is shaped like a foot, not a Kleenex box.

    Range of motion went 55* to 60*. It is very apparent in how much more the cuff moves forward, especially when skinning at an incline. Huge difference. You can drive your knee over the front of the binding now, where the old one would "block out" because of the cuff.

    Heel/Ankle feel a bit snugger, and liner is good. We have been making the ZG liners stiffer and heavier the last couple of years and the new one continues this trend. Most important is the tongue is thick and stiff for this weight of boot.

    We will also have an aftermarket liner available called the Mission Control...heaver and stiffer, think a Cochise liner blended with the new ZG liner. Nice option if you want this for a travel boot, sled skiing, or weight is not as important.

    Definitely lighter, and skis really well if not better. The dual blended cuff adds a more progressive flex..les "on and off" when engaging the cuff. Always amazed how well this light of a boot can drive really light BC skis as well as heavier resort based skis.

    Everything about this boot sounds good….except this. Why? Would adding a spoiler to the calf be the only way to increase forward lean?
