    I own the wrong skis

Getting older (53). Slowing down. I have 178 kastle mx88’s and they’re super stable but I don’t think I carry enough speed these days to really bend them. And I like making turns. Specifically, I really like carving. So mostly groomers but an easier turning ski would get me off the beaten path more. I just don’t want to fight the skis so much anymore. What ski (or profile) should I look at?

Most modern skis in the 90-95mm class will have a shorter turn radius than the MX88, and have a shorter running length due to tip and tail rocker. You'll probably find them more friendly in all conditions, but still adequate for carving the corduroy. Stay with a metal ski to retain the feel, and look for something with a conservative amount of tip/tail rocker.

Mindbender 99 or Ripstick 96 would probably be a lot of fun for what you want.

175 Praxis Sluggers are good, if a bit wide at 102 mm

    Very versatile ski

    I own the wrong skis

Renoun Endurance 88 or 98 hit all of the buttons. For pure carving fun with surprising crud, shallow powder and bump capability, check out the Atlas.

    Thanks all.

Maybe for fun I should demo the softest all mountain ski out there. Just to see how noodly they get and then work up from there.

Not a bad suggestion. Wife rips the kendo.

And op you’re not old. Yet.
    You just need a quiver.

I still love big stiff planks. But I also enjoy slightly softer and turnier funsticks.
The problem with going super soft is instability when you turn them up to eleven.

I ditched Ripstick 96s for the Kendo 88s and I'm so happy I did. I don't ski that fast (I'm way older than huckbucket) but the RS96s were really only great in the trees and bumps. Kendos are pretty great everywhere. If I could only have 1 ski for the EC, it would be the Kendo 88. Disclaimer: I haven't skied the Brahma 88 or the Rustler 9.

But if anyone wants a slalom ski, I've got a pair of Blizzard Firebird SRC SLs in 170. They're cheap but shipping is going to be expensive because they are heavy AF.

This. Both my knees are shot. My current quiver is MX89, Stormrider 105, ZX108 and Bodacious. I have been feeling the same way lately, but my ego is getting the better of me. Maybe, I should just buy a set of Skwheels.

I skied some Line SFB's for a season. Totally different ski, but really fun to carve small turns on. I have to think the Blades would be a hoot.

I'm going the other way. I just picked up Momment Commanders for my last hurrah. I'm not sure if I'll ski them or they'll ski me.

So, this may not help, but I was looking for a similar ski, something that is fun on groomed and easy to turn but still playful. Discussion starts here: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...85#post6973185 I haven't yet mounted/skied the ones I got so can't comment if they fit the bill, but there are a bunch of similar/same skis recommended in that thread.

If soft snow and you don’t mind going wider, Line Sakanas are a ridiculously fun little ski that slices and dices and is very undemanding to have a good time on.

Kendo 177 or 172. Much easier than kastle but same family resemblance.
