Hey why not. After all it was good news at Shames last weekend. We managed to get enough accumulation to stay above the crust and there was acceptable visibility for most of the last couple of days. Tri-ungulate came for a visit, so super fun to show him around a bit. A fine house guest and super nice guy.
Day one we skied a north bowl, then headed back up fish and chips to a saddle then did powder eights.
This is tri-ungulate! (Edit, sorry just caught this)
New pal Chris from Nelson thinking the snow is probably drier in Smithers.
Polly in Powder Eights
Mrs GfT doin all right.
Maisie bidding the day adieu.
Having completed a successful mission on day one, we vowed to sleep in and make as late an entry as the previous day.
Geronimo, Thunder and Super Bowls in the background. Me and the missus happy to have a weird internet ski friend stay over.
Riding a T Bar with Tri-ungulate again! During the Tbar ride we had a very hearty chuckle when reminiscing about my Tbar ride with Carvehard in Andermatt last year. Oh Brian, your Tbar Freeride exploits amaze and amuse to this day!
Tri-ungulate having a ball in North Bowl
Polly is, at this point, extremely happy she decided to forgo the coffee and hot tub morning previously planned.
Mrs GfT is, at this point, extremely happy she married me.
With another north bowl under our belt we headed up to the saddle and then along the ridge to drop a Fish and Chips. Another wonderous day at Shames.
Monday the hill was closed so I convinced Tri-ungulate to drive up the Nass to the Hotsprings. Nice soak in the pools with a couple that Tri had met heliskiing and on the way home (at the peeing tree), we spied a shit ton (I believe that is the correct nomenclature) of eagles in the trees.
All in all a very good meeting with a very good mag and some pretty decent turns in the Shames BC over the weekend.
