Cool pictures y'all. Love the atmospheric fog. And the rattlesnake.

Had to run an errand in town (picking up cat litter) and I got permission from the Mrs to wet a line in my local water on my way home. Now - this water is really pretty small, there are places where you can cast, but a lot of it is fairly overgrown and reminiscent of Creek fishing. Great structure though, and really fun fast water. It's the kinda place where you rarely see a fish over 15", but there are just tons of healthy, aggressive, thicc (albeit slightly smaller) browns.

Anyway, I showed up without wading boots, wet waded in, and on my third cast this guy just crushes my fat Albert in delightfully spectacular fashion. Ended up putting major bend in my 6wt (I normally fish a 3wt here but I wasn't going out to fish, just to run errands, and that's what I had rigged in my car).

Pretty chuffed. Definitely my personal best for this river. I suck at pictures when fishing solo, and I wanted to keep this friend wet.

Almost dropped my phone in the lake so no pics of the eager grayling. Good to beat the heat in the high country. Bunch of water just got hoot owled round here so it might be alpine lakes till everything lights on fire.

It's the new reality of my local river. PMDs have practically disappeared but the rattlesnake population seems to have tripled. It's just nuts how many more rattlers I'm seeing over the past five years.

Got out with some old friends for a multiday trip. Spending a few nights on the river is good for the soul.

Ha! You had both of your rafts down there. That's awesome. How was it getting that press-fit Streamtech frame apart? I've been curious about those frames.

This video is the same trip jcpm just did, but a couple weeks prior. Some of the best trout water anywhere.

Yea I had a buddy and his son from out of state so they rowed the little boat. I was a little nervous taking the 14er in there but a late bump in flows made everything cushy. I feel like the buero is always fucking fishermen over, this time their unexpected action was greatly appreciated and really kicked on the fishing

That stream tech is an OG, at-least 20yrs old and has been kicking around my crew the whole time. Both previous owners were on this trip! Supposedly it came apart at one time, but it no longer does. We just took turns and carried the frame down. It’s on a narrow 13 ft maravia, perfect boat for this water.

wow what a skinny lake cutty

been really enjoying the local water lately, fishing has been so good. construction on our local highway lately meant that last night i could either sit in traffic or pull over and wet a line, and it took me 5 minutes to land this beautiful hen

just scored a new (to me) 8wt carp stick, but i don't got any 8wt floating lines. anyone wanna trade?

will throw in coffee and flies

I think I have 2, a 444 and a triangle taper as I recall. It’s gonna be a week and a half or so before I can get them though.

Cutthroat opener was tough fishing Saturday, and the flies at camp were the worst I’ve experienced in Utah. Sunday hangover fishing was really good.

alright folks I'm probably gonna get slapped down for this question, but how bad are those "sink tips" which you can put on the end of a floating fly line? just built a new (to me) carping stick for a song (under $400 for everything including a new WF floating line), but now I'm cash poor and I don't want to drop $300 for a reel to spool up a sink tip with

if i need to just pony up and get a new spool i can do that I'm just salty because just the spool would cost close to what my full setup has cost up until this point

I should have taken a picture of the 3" brookie I caught yesterday on a #14 green drake.

I love the gumption of those tiny brookies.

I *think* you are referring to something like the RIO VersiTip system, where you can change up tips on your flyline from floating to various rates of sink tip? Otherwise you could run a heavier leader like a RIO Versi leader or SA Sonar. I'm a furled leader fan, and like the Cutthroat Leaders sinking streamer leader or the Reinforced Dredger.

do you know of Apline Trekkers that the ancients used? It's like that. It will get the job done but it's not ideal. You're a grownup now, Thomas. Soon to be a dad. Get the spool.

What weight rod is that? I'll send you a line.

    Pretty much.
I have a sink tip, (in a drawer), which basically is a chunk of tungsten or lead or something that’s probably 6 feet long and it has a loop on either side. You would put it at the end of your fly line and attach the leader to that, and it acts like a sink tip . Lots of knots, lots of hinging effect, but you’re just chucking streamers so it kind of works.
    Cool offer from roos
