In a slightly similar boat. Supposed to fly into Spokane on 2/16 with the fam (kids are 7 and 17). Plan is/was to ski 4 days at Red and 2-3 at Schweitzer.

Likely only resort skiing, all lodging is fully refundable and flights were purchased with points so can make a call the day prior.

Only other time I skied in BC was 2015 in Whistler.

How much damage did the rain do at Red? Forecast isn't super promising.

Same here... family roadtrip on the books, Red Mtn for Feb 18-19, Whitewater Feb 20-22. I'm not worried about backcountry conditions since we'd be family skiing with our 7 and 10 yr olds, but would be nice if there's more than just groomers. Salvageable enough for some inbounds fun at either/both? I love great snow, but my standards aren't too high.

Nobody knows, but personally I wouldn’t sweat it. It has actually been pretty fun the past few days. Great if it were May, strange for January, but not terrible skiing. I would think we will get enough snow in the next 2 weeks that it will be fun family skiing.

Dang I have been following the weather, but just got back from skiing now and this thread is hopping. In to Golden on the 9th out on the 18th of this month with three friends. We have four nights at Asulkan. Looks like I might need to pack resort gear and spend a whole bunch more on lifts.

No western flow forecasted so doubt golden/ rogers will get anything out of this but an upslope is hitting Fernie this weekend. They r forecasting 50cm…my guide buddies said stellar/eagle pass/cmh have all halted operations till conditions improve…one thing for sure is with any new snow the avy conditions will remain spicy till the storm slabs start to bond….

I’ve been skiing fun Spring conditions every day through the warming at Red. Snowpack is low and patches are opening up, especially on the lower mountain, but still tons of great skiing. We got snow last night, and there’s more forecast every day for the next week. It could be awesome in two weeks.

At ww we are early season spring conditions. Some grooming but not a ton as we need snow to groom. Base is about 135. Our trees need about 150 to be passable, 200 is great in most zones. So keep an eye on that. New raven chair opens up some fun spots and variety.

Red prob has more groomed than we do. Morr variety of greens and blues is that.s where the kids are at.

Still got a couple weeks to go though, we can get lots of snow in feb.

Thanks Kootenayskier and Sparkletarte. Hopefully some snow every few days can help.

The 7 year old has thankfully graduated to more offpiste these days and the older one goes everywhere so hoping the trees are in shape.

Hi folks, gonna be visiting Revelstoke in a few weeks and was hoping to do some touring around Rogers Pass. Been looking at guides but most of them are booked up (understandable as this is kinda last minute), but I found some availability with Sherpani Guides. Does anyone have any experience with this guiding operation? Or recs for other ones? Thanks!

Good dump of snow in the north okanagan, (25cm at SS past 2 days) west monashees, and malakwa areas past 36 hours. Anyone been out? Hoping to hit the gorge on friday as I have not even put skins on this year!!!

We enjoyed the snow up high yesterday at Roger’s pass. Looks like maybe some more coming in.

From the Valhalla range at VMT

HS 110cms at 1720m, 160 at 1900m. Approx 25-30cms of storm snow on the rain crust. However 20 new fell yesterday and today with SW winds.

Similar was reported at Hilda just SW of us. Looks like Apex, SS and Big White also got dumped on. RMR and Rogers Pass at Fidelity up high looked good too

Previous to this 2300m to 2000m seemed the best skiing. My guess is that you can probably now get to 1800m and not feel the crust. Going to be sunny and seasonal temps next few days. Hope it's a beautiful week coming up

All of the above. I consider my local backcountry everything day tripable from Rossland. All in great shape right now.

Winter is back baby! Great day out in the Monashees near Malakwa. 20 to 30cm on top of a VERY supportable crust. Fun times. Silver Star was also excellent on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was gorgeous and the lots were about as full at K. Pass as you'd expect. My wife was in a hurry--until we cleared treeline and found the wind board.

I can't figure out: are the skin tracks much worse than usual or does my whining about the up-track belong in the Wife Thread (or just nowhere!)?

Well Revy last week can be considered a success. Rolled in on Sunday night and it was dumping in the valley, always a good sign.

Reported 15cm in the morning, which is also a good sign. Lots of untracked all day long. 2pm fresh tracks in 3 bears was a unique experience. Stopped for a photo somewhere near Hot Sauce.

Clouds started to clear midday-ish, and the following 3 days were great. Each a little colder and clearer than the last. Brocuterie lunch on hot sauce somewhere was pleasant.

A very beautiful place. The photos never do it justice. Best deal for apres is Revelation lodge beers and nachos 2-4pm.

Conditions were progressively icier as the week went on. LOTS of logs and snakes still lurking in the woods; that big-ass melt did not do any favours for the mountain. Hopefully a nice 30cm reset rolls in soon and everyone will be happy.

Anyway thank you for having me. Next up is good old Silver Star in March.

Pretty good in Kutetl on Sunday

High cloud, but good travel and downhill conditions. Couple of wind affected areas, but not enough to ruin the day.

Skied Red with the family Sat - Tues. First time there and really enjoyed it. Low tide but the mountain still skied well imo (or I just have very low standards)
