Living Dangerously? Helmets revisited. Ever too warm for a ski helmet?

It was in the 60s today. Not crowded at all. I left the helmet at the car. Should I be dead?

    You do you.

Last decade or so posting here has given me no indication you have anything to protect.

Ya but you'll still pay higher insurance rates to support what's left of me if it goes bad. So, I got that going for me

As long as you don't have an " Accident "

    accident
    /ˈaksɪd(ə)nt/

    noun

    1. an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury: "he had an accident at the factory"

If its real mtn biking I wear elbow pads/ knee padz/ and always a helmet but apparently a lot of folks don't wear protection if its hot,

I am not sure how they can prevent accidents just cuz its hot ?

If you're sliding faster than 5 mph your head won't melt even if it's in the 70s. For those non-sliding times, remove.

I'm thinking maybe take a skateboard helmet next time it's going to be beach weather.

Odds are way higher that someone else near me has an "accident" than me crashing on my own... If it looked crowded I would have definitely sucked it up and put on the skid lid.

Don't have one but skateboard helmet would be better than nothing.

Honestly only feel vulnerable when it's crowded or skiing around trees.

Up here in the PNW its pretty constantly gray and precipitating so a helmet is just standard weather protection. however if the weather turns warm and sunny, with the snow slushy and the crowds are non existent ill ski with just sunglasses and feel the cool mountain air through the hair. It really does feel quite nice and refreshing.

1 or 2 days a year without the lid for me. I won't ride in the trees and the hill needs to be pretty dead, and I'm even more defensive than normal. It's so nice to feel the wind in my hair for an afternoon though.

I have a big head and have never found a helmet I didn't hate. Really hoping something better comes along someday (3d scans and prints?)

Usually the warmer it is the drunker I am so the helmet makes even more sense. I won’t ski without one

Wow. Lotta hate up in here.

Granted. The thread first post was stupid
And the idea of hot weather being the reason is even more stupid.

Thank dog my new helmet vents so much better.
Never wore a helmet until I had kids and had to set an example.

But I miss knit hats. And bare head spring skiing.

And as someone said above you tend to chill ski more than charge.
Once you have a helmet you feel vulnerable without. But also free.
You have to think twice about raw dogging.
