    Look pivots: is this dangerous???

Shop remounted my skis after I bought new boots and I’m worried they fucked up.

The images will show you what the forward pressure indicator is set to when I max out the thread on the pivot arms (not going passed the etched up portion of the arms).

does this look good enough or do I need to remount? I did a few tests (lift the dildo half way up and then let it snap in) and the bindings passed.

though I would check with you guys first before I go ski or go back to the shop and flip out.

Setting pivots is by far the worst binding.

Ignore the forward pressure indicator. The fact that it looks like the dildo is leaned up against the heel of the boot makes me think it’s too loose.

Looks like you have not read enough Pivot threads.

To check the forward pressure click your boot in, put the ski on the ground and stand with one foot in front and one foot behind the bindings. Pull up on your boot while watching the brake arms. Do the brake arms move?
-If they do move then tighten the forward pressure till brakes are stable.
-If the brakes do not move while pulling up the boot, you can loosen till you get a bit of play in the brakes then snug it up a bit till brakes are stable.

All this 'dildo snaps when halfway up' and 'rotating the dildo' stuff is too subjective.
Brake movement is a pretty objective test IMO.

Sure, setting forward pressure is not as straightforward as other bindings....perhaps that is part of the allure.

Because it isn't accurate or precise. Gwat's post is the way.

After you put a boot into the binding pull back on the dildo and then let go. If it makes a nice (non mushy) snap back into place then your forward pressure is correct. If there is any softness or mushiness then you need to increase or decrease your forward pressure. Sometimes when you spin the table to reset the indicator you can come close. I have one pair of Pivots that are dead nuts on with the indicator but all of the others are a one on one thing. It's a feel thing.

ok so I did this test and I would only see movement from the brake arms if I applied a good amount of force pulling on the ski boot and which point I would see a bit of play like you described. It seemed reasonable to me given the design of the bindings.

I’m feeling confident that these will be safe enough to ski. Thanks everyone!
