The Definitive Scarpa Boot Sizing Guide

As many people are still confused about Scarpa boot sizing, and I've never seen anything online giving a full explanation, I thought I would put this up as a resource for people to see. As we all know, Scarpa breaks on the half size, so 24.5 and 25 are the same size. Great! But that doesn't mean much if you don't know which shell size that is equal to in any other brand (Lange is used as an example below, arbitrarily).

Below, I will be referring to the shell size and ignoring anything to do with the liner, as that is secondary to getting the right shell.

So here is the simplest way to put it:

Scarpa's half size is the true/reference size.

    Put another way:

Scarpa's whole size is the same as the half size below, and the half size is consistent with other brand's sizing.

Some examples for the kids in the back:

    Scarpa 24.5/25 are the same.
    Lange 24/24.5 are the same.
Scarpa 24.5/25 fits the same length foot as a Lange 24/24.5

    and

Scarpa 27 fits the same length foot as a Lange 26.

Of course some boots fit a bit longer or shorter in each size, but you still should know what size that boot is.

I'm blown away that nowhere on the internet says which is the true size. I hope Scarpa can adopt this to give better clarification on the website. Or maybe someone else can say it more succinct. GregL has edit the evo.com sizing charts to reflect what size Scarpa are equivalent as well.

*For most of their boots, Scarpa has molded their liners specifically to each half size. It is the same liner, but it will be pre packed out for the whole size. All other brands have the exact same liner in each shell size.

I didn't put any disclaimer in there, but I moved all the Scarpa numbers one column to the left (on GoldenBC's suggestion) so now a 26.5/27 Scarpa aligns with a 26/26.5 Lange . . .

Yup and thanks for that. Didn’t mean to insinuate you did any more. If you thinks it’s worthwhile to go further feel free to adopt this wording if you think it’s helpful.

Nah, we good, I think it makes more sense this way, too.

This isn't about Scarpa being weird... but I refer to that BSL chart all the time. Thanks for putting that together.

I see this all the time on fleaBay and FB marketplace...people think a Scarpa 27 and 27.5 are the same size shell.

The boot shop that I frequent only stocks the half sizes to try to reduce confusion.

GoldenBC, you are dead on. I'm a 27/27.5 in Atomic, Fischer, Head, Lange, and Nordica boots but I sure as hell can't stuff my paws in a Scarpa 27; I've tried. Scarpa 27.5 is perfect for me.

Ditto on using GregL's BSL chart. Thanks for putting that valuable info out there for all to see/use.

This is super useful, thank you.

I've never owned a Scarpa ski boot but am quite curious (Intuitions included always is appealing!)

    Seems to check out!
Used this idea to order a size 31 F1 GT... "2 sizes bigger" by numbers than the standard 29 performance fit I've been wearing forever in touring boots. And it frigging worked. Fits like a size 30 comfort fit (~two fingers shell fit).

I was a bit nervous, because the F1 GT/LT/XT don't have Scarpa half sizes. But treating it like a size 30 worked for me.

Me too, I also want to buy Scarpa with the free intuition liners and the real Dynafit tech fittings but they don't fit me either

My experience is that the scarpa intuition liners (at least the ones in their recent tele boots) are not of the same quality as their aftermarket liners. The scarpa ones pack out faster.

well ya and the Intuition guy at their factory outlet told me as much when I asked him about the differences its a different layer of foam and I was at Intuition cuz the piece of shit liners in my Vulcans were unusable so after buying the dynafit product for about the same price as a Scarpa I have to spend $$$ on an aftermarket liner, but for about the same $$$ as the Dynafit boot Scarpa somehow managed to source a usable liner made by Intuition and real dynafit tech fittings which has been an issue in the past

too bad Scarpa don't fit me, I have T-1's with after market intuitions from the last century, they are probably/ obviously a size too big and I have always known about Scarpa breaking on the half size

Where are you seeing this? I just picked up my 27.0s from the shop yesterday and the fit is the same as the previous model. Also mirrors my 26.5 AT boots.

Agreed. Even the US website says the sizes break in the half size below, consistent with previous models.

Got the new TX Pros in the same size as the previous ones, both are 26.5/27. The new shell is a few mms shorter and a few mm narrower than the previous model, but the sweet new boot-specific liner (bellowed at both toe bellow and ski/walk hinge) has been reduced in volume accordingly so the boots fit exactly the same.

Haven't skied them yet, but limited carpet testing says Scarpa made a sweet new boot.

Hmm, yes I'm seeing that on the US website too. I was basing my post on the F24 wholesale order form, where I was pretty sure I saw that the shell break changed for this boot. I will look at that again, but it appears you and @kinkilla are correct, that the new TX Pros have the same shell break that Scarpa has always used. I will delete my inaccurate post if you all think it would help keep this thread clear, not have bad info. Sorry for the confusion.
