As many people are still confused about Scarpa boot sizing, and I've never seen anything online giving a full explanation, I thought I would put this up as a resource for people to see. As we all know, Scarpa breaks on the half size, so 24.5 and 25 are the same size. Great! But that doesn't mean much if you don't know which shell size that is equal to in any other brand (Lange is used as an example below, arbitrarily).
Below, I will be referring to the shell size and ignoring anything to do with the liner, as that is secondary to getting the right shell.
So here is the simplest way to put it:
Scarpa's half size is the true/reference size.
Put another way:
Scarpa's whole size is the same as the half size below, and the half size is consistent with other brand's sizing.
Some examples for the kids in the back:
Scarpa 24.5/25 are the same.
Lange 24/24.5 are the same.
Scarpa 24.5/25 fits the same length foot as a Lange 24/24.5
and
Scarpa 27 fits the same length foot as a Lange 26.
Of course some boots fit a bit longer or shorter in each size, but you still should know what size that boot is.
I'm blown away that nowhere on the internet says which is the true size. I hope Scarpa can adopt this to give better clarification on the website. Or maybe someone else can say it more succinct. GregL has edit the evo.com sizing charts to reflect what size Scarpa are equivalent as well.
*For most of their boots, Scarpa has molded their liners specifically to each half size. It is the same liner, but it will be pre packed out for the whole size. All other brands have the exact same liner in each shell size.
