    Town and Cruisers - Steamboat

    Snowmaking and Cruisers - Copper

Storm Skiing, Trees and Bumps - WP

    Expert Offpiste - Basin

Expensive but better than the rest - how's your Aspen?

None of them are bad but they have there strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe book some refundable accommodations are see how the conditions are shaping up? January can feel like early season specially at The Jane (trees) and A Basin (Steeps).

That was our thought. We could just bus it from Glenwood Springs. It seems like RFTA is pretty good. We flew into ASE last season and just used the buses to get around. Thanks everyone for all the info. Much appreciated!

If ya stay in Gwood plan on hitting up Iron mountain hot springs and Casey Brewing if you are into that kinda thing.

Yes, definitely into that kinda thing. Again, thanks for the recommendations. I was looking at hotels for that time frame and they are in the $160-$250 range. Hotel Denver looks interesting. Gets decent reviews on TripAdvisor.

Inquire if the room includes a pass to the hot springs pool.

Antlers Best Western in G-wood is a decent, clean, bigger property and rooms are spacious. Easy walking distance to highway bridge for downtown eateries & shops.

Just booked with a room package that includes passes to the springs. Looking forward to checking things out.

Tequila’s Mexican restaurant has some rather potent to go margaritas across the bridge. Decent grub too

Leadville is a mistake - there's no place to stay, nothing to eat, no shopping or activities, shuts down at dark. No fun whatsoever. Copper is just manmade groomers, snow is skied off and you won't enjoy it at all.

    Aspen or Arapahoe Basin ftw!

You dont really need to steer people away from Leadville. It kind of takes care of that itself.

I love to visit Snowmass or Highlands, stay in Glenwood Springs. Really nice. I don't think Arapaho Basin is that much fun until late season.

Maybe a poor word choice there, relatable is probably more appropriate but I'm a big fan of the off the radar mountain towns that have a heavy dose of grit and a lot lass glam. I still consider Aspen a classic and hope to ski there at some point. I can enjoy the glitz and glam and everything else that makes Aspen, Aspen too. The closing day party at Highlands tops my bucket list of ski experience goals. That and an on mountain random disco party somewhere in the Alps. That's about all I have left to accomplish in my world of skiing and then I can retire to Oaxaca.

Leadville’s lack of amenities keeps the motel prices nice and low. However with broom closets costing a cool million in Summit more people are buying in Leadville, meaning the entertainment and dining options will follow.

The poor man's Aspen? Never been but my stepmom did a drive through that area this fall and really enjoyed it.
