They make a really nice Warthog skin pair. Maybe it was just feral hog, but they were sweet.
I'll stick to my Double H's for now though.

Those RedWings are not even close to the quality of the same style Thorogoods. The leather is better, brass hardware, the moc toe on the Thorogoods isn’t two pieces of leather. The moc toe is made by making a welt in the leather and stitching it together.

Can we talk about the prevalence of cowboy boots in Florida? Is this a safe space? Because it's always struck me as odd.

    New Shitkickers

    Northern Florida is amazingly horsey.
Three times as many horses as Idaho.

I really like these as an everyday mamby pamby mountain town shoe.

No. There's a line somewhere, and this is past it.

I would start the talk with running through how many actual working ranches there are here. The entire middle of this state is ranches and swamp.
That said, I doubt many of the ones you saw were real cowboys.
If you check out the documentary- Path of the Panther on Nat Geo, you will see a lot of what is going on with the ranch land, and the old Florida cowboys that are selling out to developers. It is an interesting documentary that showcases the unlikely partnership between the Old FL cowboys and the Florida ecologist/ hippies that led to a huge highway project being paused, for now. My wife's friend is the director.
Anyway, TL/DR- lots of cowboy boots doing real cowboy things in that movie.

Hey Rev, so what pair did you actually get? I am danger close to pulling the trigger on a pair of Lucchese’s myself. Warthog those are pretty good looking but I’m not a fan of the square toe.

Leaving the hotel in OKC the morning after the Turnpike Troubadours/Isbell/CWG show I was amazed how many gents were leaving with sneakers on and carrying their fancy ass boots in their hands.
I mean there was a Gala at the hotel that night too so some of these dudes had these $$ boots on with their OK Formal wear the night before.

My moderately worn in Tecovas were just fine on my feet.

I'm surprised you are surprised and a lot of the pickups cost more than $90k.

Urban cowboy western fashion is a style. But they don't wear shit kickers. And if your boots are uncomfortable, your boots suck. Comfort, no laces and weatherproofness are the benefits of boots.

All of this! Nothing is more comfy and convenient than a good pair of shitkickers.

I got a pair of those Boa Ariats that Foggy recommended a few pages back and they're one of the most comfortable and functional pieces of footwear I've ever owned.

I cut my thumb in a meat slicer partly because I was paying attention to pretty much what there is to see in that picture. And not paying attention to the dangerous piece of equipment that had been poorly maintained and I was told to use for an inappropriate task. 17 yo me FTW.
