I kept trying different ones bladdders and theyd develop a leak where it crinkled. Even the more expensive ones i had success with in my biking camelbacks.Got tired of spending money only to have them fail. One time i had 3 different ones in the cupboard ready to try as the current one started to leak. Cheap ,ez, no leaks, big gulp salad dressing bottle for the last 6 years #dressingbottle4life

I got tired of bladder hose/mouthpiece freezing issues so switched to the Osprey soft flasks a few years ago. They have been great. Easy to stash in a pocket and no leaks to date.

Osprey are great quality packs. Maybe theyre the one. I always liked my hydrapak bladders but they failed. I just have zero issues w the dressing bottle method and its free. Its hoing to be hard to buy someghing at this point. EZ to strap it to a small dpace on my bike too. Upderside of my top tube is flat do it stays placed with a rubber ski strap and tucks nicely in the small space above my shock when extra water is needed

Never had an issue with Platypus Hoser bladders. I have one that is 20+ years old, still going strong.

I feel like salad dressing bottles as replacement water bottles should be a thread of its own. Been wanting a good thread to derail conversation. Something along the same lines of releasable pole straps

No doubt! Except it should be more general, such as items used while skiing for something other than their intended purpose, ha.

You don’t have to fill it all the way but the MSR dromedary bag is badass. We carried them all over Afghan with our packs getting yeeted out of trucks/helos or just general deployment abuse and they never broke or cracked.

Id venture to guess that skiing won’t be any harder on it. I Carry a 4L when ski touring that I’ve had for years and it hasn’t quit yet. You can insulate the hose by wrapping it in cohesive bandage tape or just blow the water back into the bladder when done drinking. Click image for larger version.

But the salad dressing bottle is pretty ingenious

Did you do anything to get the nasty taste out of those? I have some for sea kayaking but the water is damn near undrinkabke.

Lemon juice and baking soda will get rid of that flavor. You can either scrub them with that solution or freeze it with that inside. I have used drom bags exclusively for years and I don't *think* mine taste bad, but I wash regularly and use bleach a few times a year

I wish they came in smaller volumes. Any experience with the dromlite versions? That one comes in a 2L.

    Thanks ill try that.

Yeah it's more the new plastic-y flavor so baking soda will probably help.

Used them on a trip to glacier bay a couple of years ago and nobody would even brush their teeth with the water, it was that bad.

Repurposed dressing bottle seems like it fit in well with the freeheel crowd. Like i said, preferably the rasberry vinagrette, probably go well with patchouli as well
