    Returning Dad ski?

My current skis and boots are from 2010 - Atomic Charter 100 under foot and Dalbello Virus Alpine Touring boots.

I’ve ski toured a few times but mostly resort skiing. Mostly this time since 2010 has been filled being a new dad though and I’m hoping that this year I can get a few more solid charging days under my belt.

My schedule isn’t flexible enough to prioritize huge powder days so I’m skiing what I’m lucky enough to get.

I’m 6’1 160lbs and prefer trees and some bump runs, but I love to hold an edge with huge turns on the groomers too.

What should I add to the quiver or even replace the Charters with? They are pretty heavy and old tech from what I gather now. Could be an alpine setup that can’t tour as well.

    Thanks!

Do you want chargers or something lighter than what you have now?

I have Blizard Bonafides 98 in 180 lengths with attack demo bindings that I need to off load. They are not light.

Much prefer Bent Chetlers 100 and 120.

Someone had Ripsticks for sale here. And pink Fischer Rangers. You may consider those too.

Lower swing weight is a priority too.

If you ski out west either the enforcer 104 or qst 106 are great skis that can ski well in basically every condition. Enforcer is a little better on firm snow and qst has a more soft snow bias. If you live out east I have no suggestions except to move.

    Returning Dad ski?

    Anything red.

Ok fine, you want real advice: go buy pretty much anything used that is a good deal. Try it. If you like it keep it. If not sell it. Do that a few times.

You need to get on some skis and compare them to start to see what you like.

Except red. Any red skis will work.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

While I haven’t ridden the new redesign, this seems like the easy right answer.

At least if you are saying true alpine setup for out west.

Loving the replies. Glad I can entertain.

I guess when I say that I’m a returning dad, what I mean is that I am returning to actually putting some thought and intention into the sport again. Mostly I’ve been mountain biking and fat biking, but still ski about 10 to 15 days a year. Plenty of those are with kids though.

Live on the front range of Colorado and have The IKON pass. I can get down most anything and make it look graceful 60% of the time. I’m a schoolteacher so my schedule limits me a bit, and I cannot split work for most powder days. This makes money a factor too. I would like to keep the skis and bindings under $1000 if I can I looked at classified but I can’t see anything that I’m super pumped to drop some money on.

Instead of replacing the charter, I would probably just keep that And add to the quiver by either going narrower like the Atomic Maverick 88 or going fatter like the Salomon, QST 106.

How about a BBR? Could be the wider and slimmer addition to your quiver.

Salomon QST 98 is an easy ski. 2000g in 189cm not too heavy.
    It holds an edge.
It's fantastic in the trees, easy in the bumps.
