Nice to see the snowline this low. It will be short-lived, I know, but still...

I don't normally deal with rumors but....

Word is, the quad at Magic is GTG and they're going to run it tomorrow for passholders.

Thank you, no, I'd prefer to ride Red until it gets a few laps with butts in those seats under its belt.

Wind is ripping today too to add to this equation. I think we got to ride it MNIAW.

*Edit. I guess we’re off the hook for now.

Correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve ridden up the black chair before, amirite?
It was open for a while back like 15 years ago? Was that a different chair than the one they got from Stratton. Confused guy

You are correct Sir, old black has been melted down as scrap.

They only got the former Snow Bowl chair from Stratton 6 years ago.

In fact, they used the old towers as culverts all over the mountain and sold off the chairs at $150 each. My next door neighbor has one of them.

Probably should have sold the towers as scrap...they need the money.

They left one tower near the summit and it now has Weather Underground reporting station on it.

    More importantly:

“The man was not prepared for the hike and saw other groups turn around, but he kept going, according to Fish and Game.

Fish and Game said they requested the hiker be charged for the cost of the rescue.”

Old black chair was a triple. That replaced the old “blue” center pole double.

Last night’s ’heavy dusting’ resulted in the left side of everywhere being super fun, we’re still a major dump away from natural terrain being an option again. But today is good

There's more to that story also...

They didn't really replace the lift, they just hung new chairs on it. The drive motor was never rated to carry that load (double chair -> triple chair). It actually caught on fire once. By the time it was done, they would only load 2 people every other chair, effectively making it the "other" single chair in Vermont.

What a day to climb a mountain and ski back down. Even my cranky hip couldn’t keep the smile off my face (although I did wince once or twice on the way up).

Pretty killer Prez day weekend in PA. Predicted 3-5” kept looking out my window and saw blacktop so figured it missed. Turned out just 30 miles north my little bump got 13”. Quickly motivated and got first turns down one of our steepest trails, no time for picture stops.

    Patrol getting first tracks

My kids ditched me but paid the price missing out on first lap, but my 10y/o had plenty of face shots.

Sunday soft and sunny groomer laps w friends and fewer crowds than expected. Guess everyone else went north.

Decided to check out Windham w one kid for quick trip hoping it wasn’t far enough north to find crowds, generally worked out, other than the horrid drive home on I87 South. They had guns blazing on a few trails making for softest manmade I’ve skied in a while.

East Coast Roll Call 23/24_The Guns Are Blowing

i was going to advise anyone looking to flee to hit Valinouet this weekend but wow, seems like they have missed all of the precip this season and have half their trails closed. Same with edouard. but, they’re also both looking at snow i won’t be able to get to in the next few days, maybe someone could.

on another note, a dirtbag rock climbing Colombian friend has taken up “touring” this winter. to him, this meant putting some 90’s park skis on his backpack and hiking up mont royal in a pair of obsolete Endorphins. And he loves it!

does anyone have a 20+ year old touring setup with naxos or something they’re never going to use again that i could pass along? maybe i’ll bless him because this shit is so goofy.
