Drews went BIG yesterday. I dug a about 10 ft from the crown a couple hours later (in a flat spot at the top of the crown pic) was a bit surprised (thought it would have been firmer with the big propagation) to find a soft... fist to 4 finger wind loaded slab sitting on a 1" crust 2 feet down with facets (guessing NSF) under the crust as the weak layer. Heard about but did not document lots of other slides...sun should show those off today.

Met up with Hobie Tony and lindenle for a first tracks OB run and it was not awesome. The fresh snow had a soft freeze crust and turning was a challenge. Fall line and power turns were the only sure thing. I got bucked twice.

Tony on the other hand seemed to be cruising right along. He chose the right boards; us, less so.
Nice turnin and burnin witcha. Maybe moar, soon, yes?

I know you were disappointed DJ, but that was fun as shit!

If we had hiked for it, it would have sucked. First box tram ride to get there? Fun as shit!

Dangit! tough to wrangle the family and the mags all in short order. Will ski ya soon in Yurp.
Last time we were in the bowl together I think it was a nuclear snowstorm. Barely stringing each other along. Me, You, Shroom, Stevied, and Plugboots heading to the ship's prow. Good times.

Finally made it to the park today. A little chunky/ sun affected down low, but top bowl was magnificent. Worth the walk for sure.

    Nice trenchin, 220...

Thanks to all who came by last evening: Lindenle, Babybear, Ski220 and Bill and Skiinggirl.

Was nice to hang and catch up a little without the hectics of the vill.

We're looking at a Sunday meetup at 11, as well as a Monday meetup. If you're around, swing by Casper fireplace and ask for change.

Despite the temps staying cold I guess S facing terrain on the pass saw some sun yesterday under about 9000’ feet. Wicked crust towards the bottom of the run this morning, but had the right tools for the job.

Here are 5 shots from the last 5 days. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Monday (on assignment for a brand ... pow was too deep in most of the shots to get any meaningful looks for the gear — hah!):

Thursday — This is the father of a ski film star we all know & love. His son told him he should wear orange or red! He's been skiing here 45+ years (=jaded), and it's one of my favorite things to take him to a spot that makes him smile this big.

Was curious where you've been?!?! The light on that last shot is surreal.

And I love when you can see texture in the snow. It is hard for me to capture that, especially when light is flat.

    Solid work as usual.

I’m visiting Jackson for the next several days. I’ve never skied here before, so Djongo is showing me around. I know a lot of you from summer fly fishing trips, it will be fun skiing with people I know from the fishing thread.

Headed up tomorrow through Friday with my wife, camping in Driggs, probably skiing the ghee and the pass mostly but would make it to Jackson if the skiing is good. Buying lift tix. Would be cool to get some laps with ya'll. Will have avalanche gear and skins.

Best snow of the year for me. I don’t think I got my camera out once unfortunately, I was too focused on the skiing. Thanks again for the tour.

Westside south facing slopes at 9k skied so well today I’d say at least a foot of soft snow on a nice base, no crust yet, the sun didn’t come out until late.

Harry and I got pole position at the village this morning and first tracks of the season on a freshly buffed St. John's, so that was nice. Multi speed laps and a coupla sessions later we had enough so called it. Beautiful day.

Turning tomorrow with Harry, Singlecross and the missus. Anyone else?

    11 at Casper fireplace...

And thanks for the Motorhead, That was fresh.
