Not going to lie, driving back to Jackson on Monday was tough was tough sell.

Sunshine pow on Saturday. We had two sweet untracked runs down south facing terrain in a zone I normally write off for being hard/reefy. Nothing but soft to be found this go around

    Submarine to ride out

Sunday greybird but the visibility held up all day

And there is no crying going on at alta. Just an assessement of where we are and trying to make it better. Both Alta and snowbird have a resonsibility to work together to make it better. If one party is not working together, then there is a problem. If people don't think snowbird is part of the problem, they are not paying attention.
Had my doubts about the parking reservation sytem, but it works (for no additional cost to me as a passholder), and makes the mornings better.

Two things that would help the afternoons for all LCC skiers:
    1. Better enforcement of vehicles/tires
    2. Getting rid of the stupid concrete barriers at snowbird entrance 1&4. Hwy 210 is a state highway, the traffic onto it should be regulated by stop signs like it used to be. Priority should be flow of the hwy, not putting up barriers so unlimited flow from snowbird lots allows those lots to empty and clogs up the road for traffic already on the hwy.
It's funny because the article, and maybe Dave Fields (I forget what it said specifically) did mention that UDOT installed barriers "all the way through Snowbird" so Alta cars could take the main right lane/downhill lane and Snowbird would merge in...which obviously isn't what it is.

If they could actually set up a system where Snowbird's 4 entries all merge with the main highway downhill lane at Entry 1 I do think that would make things after for Alta, slower for Snowbird, and probably faster overall. Snowbird would of course be against that because it will make U-turning between entries 1 and the bypass impossible.

EDIT: here's the quote "Snowbird has tried to be a good neighbor and tame traffic in other ways, though, Fields said. That includes offering giveaways and other incentives for carpooling and working with UDOT to install a barrier that keeps Alta traffic from having to merge with Snowbird’s visitors until below Entry 1."

So either Fields is misrepresenting what the barriers are doing, or it is just bad reporting.

I think that's where I noticed the cop car - but I didn't notice the tracks heading off the side of the road as we drove past. Sobering.

east or bust, tgapp and jtran - awesome awesome stoke. Good stuff!! I wish I was on snow again today instead of working!

First downhill turn of seven sisters. Basically the worst turn in the canyon you could hope to pass on as it’s off camber towards the creek. The tracks were impressive, full send!

Normally I hang in the Montana thread but I'm in SLC for a few days on a work trip. Today we took a break from meetings and headed to up to Solitude. My first time skiing there.

I took this one of my boss. His face
