Oregon ‘23-‘24 El Niño Schralpadelic Rumble Thread

Thanks for the update. You probably werent in the vicinity, but did you happen to get a good look at the Prouty? I wonder how it’s looking this season, am considering it later this month.

Thanks - don’t go out of your way but if you get a clear pic from Middle then i would appreciate it. Looks like we are leaning toward Hood anyways but if we end up in Bend we will try for the Prouty.

We didn’t look over the North side.

Unrelated - anyone in Bend have some beat to shit park skis I could use at bachelor tomorrow (Friday)? Would consider buying if the price is right or trade for an Alta day ticket next season. 295 bsl WTR soles

Nice capture. (Edit) that’s the Villard headwall that ripped, EMC is to the lookers left)

Every spring the EMC couloir forms a huge deep runnel.

The thing about that runnel later in the year is that it funnels all the debris over a huge chockstone at the choke and convexity of the couloir and sends anything in it airborne. I skied it 10 years ago in late June and my partner and I made a plan around that runnel … well he got a little carried away at the quality of the upper turns and ended up on the wrong side of the runnel (lookers right) and at that point it was like 3 feet deep and over 3 feet wide. On less steep and consequential terrain that’s an easy ollie, but not in this case. I was tucked into the edge of the coolie too low to help belay my buddy, and he was trying to figure out how to self belay across that thing … when rocks started coming down the headwall. Anyways that’s one of the few ski days where I was pretty puckered just watching my friend in that situation. He got down okay, and we had a long walk out through the burn area!

All time today for last gas on the spring pass.
Place was packed, but the atmosphere was too good to care.

Bummed to see T-Line Summer pass went up 40%, might be a dealbreaker.
Summer pass is now $1400 (85 days season)*
Spring Pass $199 (78 day season)*...

Got socked in at 8500 ft on Hood on Sunday. Too bad it wasn’t in the cards to ski today. Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes the bar eats you!

First ever shred on bachelor took place this weekend. And while I wasn’t worthy enough to hike the cone, I was able to admire it from afar.

    Helped to have blue overhead.

Anyone get eyes on South Sister and Broken Top recently. Spending a few days camping at Hosmer Lake and would like to ski both outta Devils Lake and Green Lakes THs. I won't get there until the 19th, so your best guess for ridable lines at that time would be much appreciated. We don't mind long walks with skis, but need a continuous line with decent snow as a pay off. Thanks!

Maybe this will reduce future attendance…

Rodeo week sucks for locals here. Gotta divert 5 miles around the rodeo grounds to get to/from Bend. Town was full of Chevy Goliath types waddling down Cascade Ave.

And it’s not even the top weekend for food/alcohol sales. Quilt Show and Folk Fest top it every year.

Is that black/brown modern housing development across from you being received well? Or resented? I keep seeing them pumping it in IG. The firm that designed them is pretty good.
