Go north to BC? South to Mammoth?
Come out to Sandpoint and ride Schweitzer! It's about 7 hours from Portland. Ski in/out is expensive, but if you stay in Sandpoint (30 minutes down the access road), it's pretty cheap. It's a cool mountain and I've never seen real crowds there

This implies the presence of snow when we all know it's only grass and rock up there.

Seriously though, my kid went with a buddy today and said it was surprisingly ok.

^^ Looks like 1-3” new Cascade concrete did its magic covering up the ice like spackling paste. Way to go get it. Looks like west crater rim just above illumination rock? Did you summit?

If things don't improve quickly, Ikon resorts Snowbird, Solitude, and Snowbasin look decent enough for travel.

Any reports from the Southern Wallowas? Headed to the Norway hut at the end of Jan and looking to get a feel for the current snowpack. I assume its... sparse.

Sky chair was running about half speed due to a major shudder between towers 12-13. Lift op said a pulley had worn out…

ETA - they shut sky down at 2:00

Maybe they can remove the straps that allow vertically challenged people to pull the safety bar down while they’re at it. They beat against your helmet the whole ride.

^^^the “footrests” are too small to rest even one ski, so no point in dropping the bar unless there’s a small kid on board.

And ETA #2 - a pulley seized on tower 12 so the rope was dragging across a stationary pulley. I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt on that - warranty repair…

Ski lifts don’t have “pulleys”. They have sheaves and sheave trains/ multiple sheaves on a tower.
