Stuck AXS Pogo Pin. Anyone have a solution?

My daughter’s xc race bike has gen1 AXS. We bought it used from a local pro about 7 months ago.

One of the “pogo pins” is not extending as much as it should, and not making contact with the battery. (It worked flawlessly until 1/2 way into her first lap at Colorado League State Championship last weekend and she DNFd as she was stuck in a climbing gear).

Is there a solution for this? I took it to an LBS who basically said I was fucked.

If I pull it out with a pair of needle-nose it works for a little while (minutes or maybe hours) but it’s not a solution.

A little piece of aluminum foil also provides a temporary solution.

Have the gen 2 derailleurs addressed this?

Any SRAM employees or sales-reps in here?

    Hoping someone has a solution.

I just had this happen to me last week. I ended up being able to replace the pins. I pulled apart a charger, un-soldered the pins, then unscrewed those two screws and pulled out the pin assembly which revealed a small circuit board where the pins passed through and are soldered to a wire. I was able to remove the broken pins and solder in good ones from a charger. The charger was a causality of this, but it was a cheap knock-off one anyway. This was all possible because I have a soldering iron and know how to use it so YMMV. I also went in with the mindset that the derailleur was toast and I couldn't make it worse.

One other thing I found, depending on how stuck yours are. The official AXS batteries have the contacts slightly recessed in the plastic. I have a few of these which are less recessed https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and were able to make contact with the stuck pogo pins better than the official batteries. This is also where I got the knockoff charger to cannibalize.

Can you try blasting the offending pin with isopropyl alcohol and work it in and out a bit? I'd guess a bit of gunk got in there.

Yeah I just tried that. Alcohol and repeatedly pushing it in and out gently.

Honestly seemed to make it worse.
