Flylow and their use of shitty drugs

    Rant.

First. Who decides on these colors? I’ll admit I bought the man purple otherwise known as galaxy.

Second. Why would a company make a full length insulator pant as opposed to a 3/4? Fuck, stio even figured it out.

Third. The backcountry vest is a direct rip off of whatvest. For a company that says they are dedicated to skiers, that’s a full blown shit head move by trying to build a knockoff and not just cutting an exclusive deal.

And Whatvest is a knock off of the Dakine vest which is a knock off of the North Face Heli guide vest.

Even if they wanted to, the scale at which Flylow moves gear is something that would take Whatvest years to fulfill.

Besides, now all the cool bros will know that Whatvest is the cool one. And it'll only be lame dads from TGR filling their Dakines with snacks for the kids and PBRs.

the poacher fills a very necessary void, an airbag. That’s the reason I own one.

whatvest is a small business worth supporting though especially with the ability to stash that many beers.

Sure, it's can be an airbag, but the vast majority I've ever seen in use (self included) are setup w/o. I run mine w/o an airbag as when I'm required to wear an airbag I need a pack. And I don't have mechanized skiing $$$.

Whatvest is really nicely made, built in the US, and a small biz. I suspect there's no way they could fill a Flylow sized order w/o scaling back on their core customers. If anything I suspect Flylow popularizing the idea will just help out Whatvest in the long run as people want the "original."

But lets not pretend that it's a "rip off" when Whatvest is building something that has been around, in multiple (improving) iterations, for 20 years.

Thanks to this thread I just discovered the flylow vest. I'm intrigued by the fact that it uses a membrane fabric, I don't think any competitors do.

lol. I wouldn’t waste my body on bad drugs…. Even when I did the worst drugs known to man I still made sure they were the best quality and I didn’t need test strips to know if it was fentanyl, my veins could tell me it was….and there is nothing like shooting fentanyl.

I had to rustle feathers, but in honesty I’m hoping there is someone from flylow that reads these forums and takes some notes…

-give a black color choice in all outerwear with black zippers
-dont rip off whatvest with an inferior product, make something better or do a collaboration.
-make some high quality insulators for under pants or bibs, 3/4 length. we are all skiers or riders get with it.

Couldn't you just speak with your wallet and purchase apparel from another manufacturer who makes the products you want in the colors you like?

And forgive me, I've never heard of Whatvest, but at first glance it doesn't look like they necessarily brought anything new to the market with their vest either. The North Face had a similar vest in their collection 15-20 years ago.

I like me some Flylow. Doesn't hurt that they're local and I like supporting those in the community.

I'll buy more this year. I don't mind color trends. I cycle through gear frequently. I guess if you only ride a few times per year you may want your gear to be neutral, but my stuff just wears out or gets mangy.

I had one pair of pants that I finally killed last year. They faded from green to brown. It was an experiment. Several hundred days over about 5 years. Most of my gear makes it 1-2 seasons.

Hmmmm, maybe I need a dad vest.

Don’t think I want that in a vest. They are warm enough already.

If he simply spoke with his wallet we would not be able to have these discussions about gear.

yes that’s exactly the point. Also there are tons of ski and ski clothing companies that do lurk here and I’m hopeful someone reads these discussions we have.

and btw I have four full kits from flylow plus a bunch of layers, the Crowe micro puffy is great. I love there stuff. It’s made very well. The colors are aggressive some times which I would never complain about if they simply offered a straight black in the most popular clothing, no colored zippers.

Flylow and their use of shitty drugs

Worst piece of ski gear (well actually tied with marker twincam bindings) I’ve ever owned were flylow baker bibs. Wet through to my long underwear within 2 runs with moderate snowfall. Returned them after 2 runs. Absolute garbage. Cheap columbia pants would’ve been 100% better. Will never buy any flylow product.

Theyve been knocking off Kinco gloves for a while now. They brand themselves as "core", which is why they have merch that proudly proclaims "ski bum".

Who cares. Buy the best quality stuff you can at the best discount you can. You will end up with a good mix of "core" brands and big brands.

I wonder if you got a bad batch of material or treatment. I was out several days last year where it was basically raining at the bottom of each run. I was wet by lunch time, but also ready to go home. I stayed mostly dry for hours.

$ for $, I think they make good gear and it fits me well.
