Can you get brakes wider than the default 80mm brake for those, or are you only thinking about putting them on skinny skis?

I looked once, and the lower level SPXs have a range of brake withs available, but the low level 80mm brakes had a different part number than the one on 15/18, so I assumed they weren’t interchangeable.

(And I wasn’t too invested in it, so didn’t dig any further than that.)

Yep! According to a few sources on skitalk, you can use the old px15/18 brakes (race brakes) on the new spx15 and apparently 18.

Not suuuper curious about this, since pivots always can be had pretty decently priced, but I do think there is some merit to the wider mount pattern of the newest gen.

I know some are using the Rockerace bindings on flat skis and hacking the jig set ups and brakes but I still wonder about Look saying they should only be used with the plates. Maybe on skis with metal under the bindings along with helicoils and I’d stop wondering/worrying. The race bindings also have a lot of delta so I’d probably want shims under the toes. The plates have a step to level them out some.
