Battery contact issues? Seems like this could be avoided by using good batteries, but glad to see another company getting ahead of tragedy. Seems like the PIEPS folks learned from the last debacle?
"due to an issue with the size of the battery compartment."

I am not sure battery quality will fix a battery compartment issue- even the sucky ones would presumably be the correct size.

Weird this came up after the limited European launch last season. I ran into the head of product development at Pieps last month and asked him if they made any changes before they released it into North America and they said they made a few small software changes, etc. based on feedback but nothing major.

There was a post going around on Reddit a few weeks ago where someone was asking about the batteries popping out of the compartment when you opened the battery compartment lid (vs. just sitting in there like on a headlamp. etc.) and Pieps said this was normal....

From reading about a similar issue that affected the old Ortovox M1 and M2, apparently not all AA batteries are exactly the same size, and the length of the "bump" at each end also differs.

ETA: some information about that old problem and the different batteries, here: https://beaconreviews.com/recall_Ortovox_M2.php

BD's parent company, Clarus, finally decides to part ways with Pieps as well as Jet Force IP. Sale to private investment to close Q3 2025.
