On Friday morning, March 8, SWAT team raided 3 homes in Emerald, Creekside, and MarketPlace and arrested 4 men in their early 30s (all Whistler residents); 3 Canadians, 1 Australian. RCMP claimed to have seized 2.5 kgs of cocaine, about $10,000, and an unspecified amount of MDMA.

"You always start with the coke, right? So we counted that, and decided to round it to a nice 2.5. Same with the cash, we're gonna say $10k, that's our story and we're gonna stick with that. So by the time we got to the Ecstasy we realized it was going to be an all-nighter, and every time we counted was distracting, so the team was really agreeable that it's all good if we just leave it with 'unspecified'. We'd thought we'd lost possession of the safe and searched for like an hour, then realized the staff sargeant was sitting on it. However, of great concern was that we confiscated some non-indemnified 1970's slalom shin guards which clearly violate FIS regulations. There was also unposted lettermail with insufficient postage."

In unrelated news the clubs have been surprisingly quiet this month

I guess we can use the Clapton song for the coke. Here's one for MDMA.

It’s not a Clapton song, it belongs to JJ Cale

Saw a video from a friend with showcase open! Looks like some snow fell up there as well.

Pretty cool they got it going when there's only 3 weeks left for Blackcomb this season (kinda hurts typing that out).

What's the excuse this year for closing early?

Cant imagine there won't be. Though Sunset boulevard will likely be completely bare so the glacier route might make more sense.

True. Realistically this is a good year to close early. There won't be much late spring skiing.

I haven't been on snow a while, so give me some beta.
How is the access to the glacier off the back of showcase? is it sketch to get past blowhole, or cool to take 7&8yr olds there right now?

This was from Sunday. Best way was doing a few more side steps and doing the high traverse, not lower down. It was a gong show of people taking their skis off and struggling with the lower travers. Go high and across.

It was decent enough on Tuesday. 10-15cm of fresh at the top on a crunchy base. And there was more in the forecast when we left

How are conditions looking inbounds these days? I'm assuming pretty spring-like with freeze-thaw cycles. Planning to come up the weekend of the 13th to get in the final dual mountain days this season. I've heard things are getting pretty quiet.

Here's a PSA for anyone who has both an Edge card and an Epic day pass: be careful not to have them both on your person at the same time. I was skiing in Colorado last week. I brought my Edge card because I would have needed it if we'd skied an extra day (the plan was to ski four days and I had a four day Epic day pass). You can use up to two days of a five day Edge card at other Epic resorts. Anyway, two of my Edge card days ended up being scanned rather than my Epic days, so I now have both Edge card and Epic days remaining. I just called Whistler customer service and the lady told me to be careful about this because having two passes on your person is a good way to be flagged for fraud. I meant to take the other card out of my wallet, but I assumed the pass that was alone in my jacket pocket would have scanned rather than the pass that was in a metal wallet. Nope!

Okay who had the balls to lay tracks down Blackcomb main face yesterday mid day? A set of two tracks down the main gut then cutting back lookers right and into a close out chute back into Lake Side. Another pair of tracks in the line next to DOA, forgetting the name of this line. From top of DOA climb up over the first ridge skiers right and down the flank. After snagging kids from Base II ski school we hustled up to catch 7th before closing for them to ski Pakalolo and say the BComb peak tracks at just after 3pm.

Inbounds on Blackcomb is still skiing really good. Still mostly cold chalky snow on north aspects and feeling wintery under foot. But 13 days from now anything could change.

Yeah, I don't see much super warm weather coming, but also not a ton of snow.
